Almost super human infact. Was talking to my housemate about him last night and agreement was reached that this has to be the hardest challenge a celeb has ever taken on. Swimming the channel was a superb effort, this is just insane.

I recall swimming 1 mile when i was a kid and i ached. Imagine therefore swimming 147 times that amount, in a shitty river.

What's he done?

Swam 147 miles down the thames in 8 days and raised over a million quid for sports relief, being sick and having the shits in the process. The man restores my faith in humainty esp among the celeb culture. One or two pricks out there could learn a thing or two off him.

Oh and rescued a drowning dog in the process.

Very impressive from Walliams, but Eddie Izzard outdone him, for me.

On 27 July 2009, with only 5 weeks' training and no significant prior history of running, Izzard began seven weeks of back-to-back marathon runs (with Sundays off) across the UK to raise money for Sport Relief. He ran from London to Cardiff, to Belfast, to Edinburgh, and back to London carrying flags of England, Scotland or Wales depending on which country he was in, and carried a self-designed green flag bearing a white dove when in Northern Ireland. The blog Eddie Iz Running was a document of his road running marathon, in which he ran 43 marathons in 51 days. He completed the run on 15 September 2009, after having run at least 27 miles each day, 6 days a week for 7 weeks straight, covering more than 1,100 miles across the UK. Izzard received a special award at BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2009 for his achievements

Totally forgot about Izzard. I agree that was a monster effort. I doubt even a pro would be able to do that, let alone a middle aged comedian.

Swimming is whole different game to running tho. Especially swimming in that horrible, stinking, rat infested, cockney shit-filled water.

Both incredible achievements

Why do we even need to know this, newspapers!

I understand getting max publicity for charity,it makes more money so fair enough and well done on that but, what kind of 'news' story is that?

I'm sure loads of normal people do this every year but arent in the paper to shout about doing it.

Saving a dog is quintessentially British heroism. I for one call him aquajesus.

I'll probably make myself look a tit saying this, but I always though the Thames went from London, out east into the English Channel. My geographical knowledge has been improved today (which isn't difficult, to be fair).

Yeah same here.

Walliams deserves credit for it, a great effort, I quite like the man and he's paid his dues, I remember him on Game's World about 15 years ago and it took him years to become well known, he deserves his success. In this day and age, it's nice to see someone enjoying fame who's actually talented and has worked for it.

I don't particularly like him, but what a guy. Same rules apply for mockney Oliver. He has done so much when all these fuckers really need to do is sit at home, snort blow and get their cocks sucked by much younger women. Top men, to be honest.

I still thing they've got time for that too!

I do like what Jamie Oliver has tried to do with school meals and food for the masses in general but haven't got much of a clue about Walliams other than he pushes Matt Lucas in a wheelchair comedy routine that is sometimes quite funny IMO.
