My mum was sent this picture of Cheapside on Twitter, from the 60s.

If you zoom in on the left, opposite the Bridewell, you’ll see a sign protruding saying Manny Charles. It was the bookmakers my mum was manageress of during that period.

Seen this photo of my dad in the echo today. Just wanted to share it here as I thought it was cool. That caption underneath…I heard all the stories growing up. How he was a bit of celebrity in Norway because that’s where they were taken when one of their ships went down. He passed away in 2020 and I struggle without him everyday. He was a cool dad.

Looks like he lived a great life mate.

Yes, i know a few lads that went to sea, seen the world and all that, one mate had just retired, a few bob in the bank, house paid for and decent pension only to die about 2 months ago at 61, bad news it was but a better life than most i suppose.

There's a shop opposite Picton Clock in Wavertree that's been unoccupied for years now. I seem to recall it was some manner of letting agency. Anyway, they've taken off all the frontage to reveal this:

If I saw things in black and white I might have thought I was in Z-Cars.

Another day, another shop front from by Picton Clock that harks back:IMG_20220211_121813276_HDR.jpg:

spent a night in that Bridewell once for D&D behaviour.  I was 16 or 17 I think.  It's now a hotel.

Can't read that, too depressing. Some of the buildings lost is tragic.

I see they're going to put a Hooters in one of the gorgeous buildings on Water Street.  Someone really needs to shoot this council leadership - they are fucking criminal.
