Joshing aside, he really was an important player for us, and the first Liverpool captain to lift the league title in 30 years.

 

Has declined hugely over the last two years however, and his leaving is the best for everyone. Good luck to him.

Been a great player and captain for us, but its time to move on, his playing time would be reduced this season and his influence has been waning.

 

To get £12m for him and his wages off the books is a good deal for all concerned.

 

This nonsense about the LGBT community is kind of absurd. It’s not like I change my stance on issues just because I visit or work in another country, neither will it be for Henderson.

Good servant of the club and grew into a good leader and captained us to some great triumphs.

 

Sadly he stayed a touch too long and his legs went on our watch rather than someone elses - the way we used to do things.

 

Best for all that he goes now - bit of a shame how it has happened/timing of it, when you see absolute nomarks like Naby Keita get to leave with framed pics on Anfield pitch with King Kenny - it is a shame Henderson is going as he is - but that is of course a timing issue/his choice.

 

Footballers nowadays of course obviously do not need testimonials like the old days, especially ones about to earn nearly a million a week - but hopefully he can come back and have a charity game and then get the appreciation he deserves as well as some money raised as a result.

 

Now for us to use the 50m and 400k a week wages his departure and Fabinho's gives us towards injecting what our midfield sorely needs.

Never a great player, but a useful member of the squad for spells of his time here. As one of his biggest critics I always respected the person. Up until now that is. Will now remember him as an average player and a tit of a person.
