The TLW Quiz of the first half of the season is now over and the top of the table looks like this: 1st Kristen Stromme 18 2nd EVO 17 3rd Beni 17 4th Ian G 17 5th Stu Monty 16 There were several more on 16/25 correct answers but Stu's prediction (25) on the bonus question (How many league goals had Liverpool scored as per 31st December 2003) came the closest to the correct answer, which was 28. This question was also used to separate positions 2-4. Not dropping anyone in it, I can reveal that self confessed football hater, Haje Jan Kamps finished above 8 other participants.

From www.liverpoolfc.tv: Houllier also confirmed that goalkeeper Chris Kirkland faces up to two months on the sidelines after undergoing an operation to repair a broken finger. :no Yeovil... Who's in the troop for the Yeovil match? Is Vignal back in Liverpool now? Ready for this match? Who is likely to play?

“My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Napoleon had that idea. He wanted to conquer the bloody world. I wanted Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in. Fire in your belly comes from pride and passion in wearing the red shirt. We don’t need to motivate players because each of them is responsible for the performance of the team as a whole. The status of Liverpool’s players keeps them motivated. For a player to be good enough to play for Liverpool, he must be prepared to run through a brick wall for me then come out fighting on the other side. The fans here are …

My word what a style of play they have, absolutely phenomenal passing and movement. Watching the Champions League Preview in Eurosport for 2003, it shows why we are not there. 1. Poor coaching. 2. No Composure. 3. No passing and movement 4. Some Poor players. 5. No style or cohesion on the park. 6. No Passion. 7. Sunday league tactics 8. Long ball. 9. Favourtism. 10. Dinasour mentality. Jesus, we are so behind the rest its embarsssing. We really miles behind. We aren't mixing it with the big boys because we are NOT good enough to.

From .tv Gerard Houllier has offered Neil Mellor an escape from his loan nightmare at West Ham United. The Liverpool striker has played for just two minutes since picking up an ankle injury in November and Houllier is concerned his chances of first team football at Upton Park have decreased following the sacking of Glenn Roeder. Roeder signed Mellor on a year long loan from Anfield, but the arrival of new boss Alan Pardew could spell disappointment for the young Sheffield striker who is competing for a starting place against new signings Brian Deane and Marlon Harewood as well as the prolific Jermaine Defoe. Houllier has spoken to Mellor and told him he…

Hi Dave, I think it was you who told me this, but as the man in the incontinence pants once said "I'm prepared to stand corrected". Wasn't the ill-treatment of Ginola (hahahaha) more to do that on the eve of the Bulgaria game Ginola came out and slated all the non-Parisean based French players (like Cantona and Papin) thereby causing a divide in the dressing room. I know GH wasn't on the Usher Christmas card list, but please confirm this. Cheers.

OBAHK/MYMK sales for the year 2003
by Guest Peter_Evo- 0 replies

Just done my end of year accounts. Sales in 2003 were 480 MYMK and 538 OBAHK. The fact that sales of the first book are outstripping the second bodes well for future sales. The third book will be out around March I think. Thanks to everybody who bought the books. Thanks also for your very generous donations to the OBAHK/MYMK charity fund. They really are very much appreciated. In 2003 alone £4,000 was donated. The latest charity to benefit, to the tune of £50, is Derry House Children's Hospice in Chorley which is helped greatly by Westhoughton Motorcycle Club of which a work colleague of mine is a member. Once again, thanks people. Evo.

Favalli dreams of Anfield move Friday, 02 January 2004 Players: Giuseppe Favalli Teams: LazioInternazionaleLiverpoolBy Nadia Carminati Lazio defender Giuseppe Favalli has admitted his dream is to play in England for Liverpool. The 31-year-old feels his time in Rome will come to an end in the summer, even though he is currently an important part of coach Roberto Mancini's plans, as his contract expires in June. "I want to end in a good way this season, achieving an important result with Lazio and then facing a new adventure, probably abroad," he told Chilometri. One of the main reasons behind Favalli's decision to leave Italy is because he does not…

May 2004 bring us a lot more pleasure than 2003. I've enjoyed the forum this year, and am off to Mexico for a week of sun and cervasa in Playa del Carmen. God knows if we fall to Yeovil there might be a new man charge. However, Come on you reds................

Got this from a lad on KopTalk called: Mr_Creosote There has been a lot of argument and counter-argument about the amount of money spent by Houllier. I have decided (betraying my nerdy roots! ) to settle these arguments by totting up the amount Houllier has spent and the amount he has recouped... In total, during his reign, Houllier has spent £117,150,000 on bringing players in. This begins with Jean-Michael Ferri on the 6th January 1999 and goes up to Harry Kewell in 2003. During that same period, Houllier has recouped £50,965,000 by selling players meaning that the total 'loss' since the beginning of 1999 has been £66,185,000. Furthermore, there have bee…

Would that be above average intelligence for a footballer from the loins of Neville Neville? If so that would put him in exhaulted company along with a jar of half-eaten pickled beetroot, a walnut whip and a deck of playing cards (missing the Ace's, Kings, Queens and Jacks of course). This is from the Daily Mail. Apparently when Quasimodo's afterbirth opens his mouth sense normally flows. Can we have some proof? It is a well-known fact that most inbreds are sub-human, and Gary Neville really puts the "sub" in sub-human.

Houllier V Thommo Bust Up........
by Guest Con- 10 replies

What did everyone think of the bust up at the end of the Man City match between the 2 of them? Personaly I have to agree with Ian St Johns assestment on Soceer Extra and think that Thommo can be an embarassment to the club at times. Mind you Houllier firmly put him in his place and there was no arguing back from Thommo which is unlike him!! :sniff:

There's arguments and counter arguments over what he has or hasnt really spent. To put it simply, Houllier spent 2.3 times as much money as he has brought in, which doesnt compare well to Souness who spent only 1.8 times what he brought in. Roy Evans has fared much worse than either however, spending 2.7 times as much as he recouped. This is using figures from www.lfchistory.net Souness took us from 2nd to 6th, Evans from 6th to 3rd, and Houllier from 3rd to 5th. It shouldnt take a genius to work out that if he doesnt turn things round fast this season he hasnt got us value for money when you compare him to others.

As Stephen Adams said, shows just how much we need a new stadium. The sightlines are excellent, there is ample leg room and it looks fantastic. It was built by Manchester City Council for the Commonwealth Games then adapted for football and given to City for free in a swap for the delapidated Maine Rd. All City have to do is pay a percentage of all gate receipts for any crowd over 34000 to the Council. Think of the difference in co-operation the clubs have received when you compare Manchester Council and Liverpool's. Threre is a lot to be learned.

I was expecting about 3 months for the ban. Personally I think 8 months was harsh given that Bosnich got 9 months for failing on cocaine. However the 8 month ban does not stand up to analysis. It starts on 12-1-04 and finishes on 12-9-04. We don't play in June and July in this country. Why have the FA come to this decision? Read on : 1. Sepp Blatter was applying pressure for a harsh punishment otherwise FIFA would intervene. Hence the 8 month ban. 2. If they had imposed a 3 month ban it would look like they were allowing him to get match fit for Euro 2004. 3. A 6 month ban would look ridiculous as we don't play in June/July so the last 2 months would be…

I wouldn't want our Chairman to say this but would love it if he said it privately. "What has happened since the start of the season is just not on," he said. "It is not acceptable to the directors and board of Newcastle United or to our supporters, and we are not going to put up with it. "I am talking about everyone here, from the manager downwards. The management and players of this football club are given Rolls-Royce treatment, but we are not getting Rolls-Royce performances from them in return. "The board has given the club some of the best players in the country and those players top wages, a fantastic stadium and a training complex that is second to non…

The board must be brave and appoint Martin O'Neil as manager even if we scramble to 4th place in a league where there is a bigger gap between 3rd and 4th then between 4th and 20th. To those who have doubts over O'Neil's ability should note that he is the 'man' that the supporters of United, Arsenal and Chelsea respect and also fear most from the 'realistic' candidates .... When in doubt you should always make the move that your rivals would least appreciate and that would be to appoint Martin O'Neil as Liverpool manager.
