In an attempt to educate the users on this forum, we have set up a quiz to decide just how much people actually know about our manager. The concept of the quiz is for the reader to guess what Gerard Houllier really did say. 1) AFTER PALACE Option A "This defeat may prove to be a blessing in disguise." Option B "I am very disappointed in my players and will be having strong words with them. This is by no means acceptable for Liverpool Football Club." Option C "I hereby resign from my position as Liverpool manager." 2) AFTER A DRAW AGAINST A CRAP SIDE Option A "We got what we deserved today. Several of the players I've brought to this club didn't perform…

World Soccer web site 16-12-03: Abel Xavier linked with shock Madrid move Real Madrid are reported to be on the verge of signing Portuguese defender Abel Xavier. The 31-year-old is still under contract with Liverpool, but the Anfield club are prepared to release a player who was loaned out to Galatasaray last season. Xavier has been training with Brazilian side Sao Paulo with a view to securing a move, but now looks poised for a move to Madrid as defensive cover for Carlos Queiroz's side. Any chance of a swop with Zidane.

"But I still wouldn't bet against Liverpool finishing fourth - although the cracks that appeared last year between them and the leading clubs is widening - and that is why we won't see any knee-jerk reaction from the board over the future of the manager." Mark Lawrenson

From The Official site Jamie Carragher admits it's great to be back after he returned to full training at Melwood yesterday and revealed he can't wait to tackle again. The long-serving defender stepped up his comeback bid when he trained alongside his team-mates for the first time since breaking his leg against Blackburn in September. Should Carra's rehabilitation go according to plan then he's expected to be back in contention for a first team recall sometime in January. "It was great to get back on that training pitch with the lads," Carragher told Liverpoolfc.tv today. "Obviously, with there being a game a couple of days before the session wasn'…

Rory (Moderator of KopTalk) did this thread to remind people (like me) who want GH out to remember what he has done for the club. Thought it might be apprecaited on here. Please don’t ruin this thread with any negatives. Remember the good times - Remember he came good on his promise “'We will beat Manchester United here one day, I can promise you that'. Danny Murphy made sure of that. - Remember the night in Rome when Michael Owen humbled the leaders of Serie A. - Remember the 3-2 derby day victory over Everton and Gary McAllister sending us into ecstasy. - Remember beating Barcelona at home and stopping a European Giant from scoring in a t…

Sunday Mirror 14-12-03, "If we don't qualify for the Champions League over the next couple of seasons then I would have to think very seriously about things. I would owe it to myself to take another look at my future." Steve Gerrard. I know this comment is not knew and it's part of a long interview that could be taken out of context. But: This is the captain of our club. Why is he making comments that can be turned into headlines to destabilise the club? He doesn't need the money from these interviews. If he himself wants a change of management then he should be speaking to Parry and Moores about it not the media. He's the captain, he's supposed to …

I admired Gerard Houllier when he first arrived. His courage to make decisions knowing it would piss off the fans and the fact if you didnt want to play for the club you were out. He built a team that may not have been the best but was playing as a team, progressing and winning trophies at the same time. At some point this progress has stopped though. I, like seemingly most of the fans have lost respect for Houllier, not because of this seasons poor displays but because of his persistent excuses that just dont wash. My Dad is one of the old boys whose seen it all and just wont except the fact that at present we are no better than the Newcastles and Tottenhams …

Alan Hansen's view on things
by Guest 18 & 4- 0 replies

From someone we all respect and a very reluctant critic. Taken from today's Telegraph: Lack of depth costs dearly By Alan Hansen (Filed: 15/12/2003) At Anfield on Saturday I found myself watching a Liverpool team who were struggling to impose themselves on Southampton. A team struggling to take control of the game. There was a time when it was the opposition at Anfield who would be restricted to a 10-minute spell when they gained the upper hand. Now it's the other way round. When Southampton had the ball they looked like they were going to score. There was a time when you went to Anfield in the knowledge that Liverpool were going to win. Now I …

Both second strikers or support strikers. One cost nothing and the other cost £11M. One has to play very well to stay in the team, the other is guaranteed a spot. That there is the perfect example of why we are so far behind the Mancs.

At least our manager is not the only one whose lost the plot! Sir Bobby Robson has insisted Shola Ameobi can save Newcastle a fortune by proving himself a worthy long-term successor to Alan Shearer. Robson has been dismayed by recent fans' criticism of 22-year-old Ameobi, and is ready to offer the England Under-21 international a new contract. And the Magpies manager even believes Ameobi could prove good enough to fill Shearer's shoes when the great man retires at the end of next season.

How on earth did Beckham get in the top 5 British sports personalities of the last 50 years, on the beeb last night ?? What an absolute joke. I presume the great British thicko public voted for the final 5 ? Ian Botham, iconic, arguably the finest all round cricketer this country has produced in 40 years, does a lot of work for charidee, understandable entry. Bobby Moore, the only Englishman to captain a world cup winning side, understandable entry. Torvill & Dean, don't personally class ice mincing as a sport, but at least you can say they actually 'achieved' something, therefore understandable entry. Steve Redgrave, 5 olympic golds over a 20 year period,…

Time for change. 1 2
by Guest Peter_Evo- 26 replies

Time for change. Yesterday’s at best pathetic, at worst apathetic, performance has now swayed those, including me, who were either pro-Houllier or teetering on the brink. Before yesterday there was a definite divide, maybe 50-50, but yesterday confirmed that we do indeed need a change. There is no way on earth now we are going to make even the bad enough fourth place. The time for change should, in my opinion, be made immediately. If it is not then Houllier will spend, when the transfer window opens in January, what I believe to be a very limited budget on the sort of second rate players, mainly foreigners, we already have at the club who whilst doing their best (…

The current situation..............
by Guest Con- 17 replies

Alright lads. I dont usually post messages up here but I have been reading some of the posts and I have been amazed at the negativity coming out from some people. Because of this I am going to have my say. First things first - the season has been a major disappointment so far. I dont think anyone in their right mind would disagree. But lets look at things logically. We finished 5th last year. Utd and Arsenal were well ahead of us. Chelsea and Newcastle were on the same level. Then in comes a russian billionaire that trasnforms chelsea and gets them up to the next level. We cant compete with that. No one can and eventually in the next couple of years chelsea will domi…

"Posh Spice is a slapper She's got a sweaty growler And when she's shagging Beckham She's thinking Robbie Fowler When she wants it dirty She thinks of Danny Murphy And when she wants it dead hard She thinks of Stevie Gerrard When she's getting going She thinks of Michael Owen" CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP FOWLER!!! There now, I'm happy again.
