It's only the newspapers making it a soap opera because they want something to print. It appears pretty much nailed on that the player is coming here, and I'm quite happy about that based on what I've seen of him so far. He looks quite handy for a free transfer, and versatile enough to play in about three or four positions.

He's got my full support.

Jovanovic said: 'The other club interested in me is in and around the top four in the Premier League.

I'm getting offers all the time. Last year I wanted to go to PSV, but Standard did not let me leave.

'Everton aren't a big club. That club I have turned down already.'

He also said that in 2009, the legend.

Just looking back at the comments in this thread and people clearly weren't happy when we were first linked with Jovanovic.

I however think he could surprise one or two, as from what I have seen, I like the look of him.

Our new Serb star in 10 facts

He's a Serbia international who is renowned for his lethal finishing and strong work ethic - but what do you really know about Milan Jovanovic?

Liverpoolfc.tv reveals more in this interesting insight into the character of our new boy.

1) He is nicknamed 'le serpent' which translates as the snake.

2) He knows all about the famous Anfield atmosphere after appearing as an 87th minute substitute in Standard Liege's 1-0 extra-time defeat against the Reds during a 2008-09 Champions League qualifier.

3) He was born on April 18, 1981 and shares a birthday with actress Hayley Mills, Casino star James Woods and former red Danny Guthrie.

4) He has already endeared himself to the red half of the city following his reaction to speculation about a potential move to Everton. He is reported to have said: "Everton aren't a big club. That club I have turned down already."

5) He isn't the first player to swap Liege for Liverpool. Back in 1990 Kenny Dalglish swooped to bring Israeli hot-shot Ronny Rosenthal in on loan and he helped inspire the Reds to an 18th league title.

6) 'Jova' is renowned for his great voice and friends have suggested he could have a career as a professional singer when he hangs up his boots.

7) He can often be heard listening to the No Smoking Orchestra, a band that were formed in the former Republic of Yugoslavia.

8) The Serbia international has identified Barcelona's Lionel Messi as the best player in the world and admits to being a huge fan of Dragan Stojkovic during his younger years.

9) His favourite film is the 1982 Serbian comedy, Tesna Koza. It tells the story of a low-level clerk struggling to make the money he needs to keep up with the demands of his family.

10) According to an interview in which he described some of his favourite pleasures in life, an ideal dinner in the Jovanovic household would consist of a Pasta-based meal followed by a nice cold Kriek - a cherry flavoured Belgian beer

Signed

Is it just me or do those photographs look hugely doctored!?

I'm not doubting that he's signed or anything but they look like those naff mock-ups people do of superstars in our shirts! Like that one of Villa with Torres both in Liverpool kits!

I'm happy about this signing though. Hopefully a nice parting gift on behalf of Rafa!
