Yeah, I understand that. But if clubs want to make a stand about the saudi's turning players heads and then offering "normal" fees to get the players out, then they need to say no. There's no choice. If like we did with fab and Henderson we just accept it because the players want to go, well they'll be back to do it again soon. Why wouldn't they? 

 

The only option of course is to complain about tapping up, but obviously that's another can of worms because everyone does it..

Having said all that, if we get to the final day of the window and we’re just a million apart for someone we clearly desperately want, then, and only then, should we consider paying the full figure. We’re signing this fella on probably a 6 year deal. It’s for the long term, a few weeks won’t matter. This season is about top 4 so we’ve a bit of time to get our identified top targets instead of settling for other players for the sake of a few weeks. 
 

All these leaks though are making us look like chumps if we don’t get this done. 

What if we end up paying more than £50m due to the fact we have fucked around so much.

Instead this gets dragged out til the end of the transfer window, then once it's over the line FSG shrug their collective shoulders and say there was not enough time to start another transfer saga.
