Don't wanna jinx it, as we all know too well, he's more than capable of the occasional brain farts... but how good has he been this season? Unless we could replace him with an outstanding CB like van Dijk, I'm comfortable to have him starting for us going forward.

Recent reports suggest otherwise. I like Van Dijk, he's huge, quick, good on the ball, and looks very composed.

Can we stop labeling this guy as some sort of redemption story? If we swapped him tomorrow for any mediocre centre back in this league we wouldn't be worst off. He's shite and falls to pieces when he doesn't have a good player next to him holding his hand.

No change in Lovren now from the clown that was costing us games the last two seasons, only difference now is we've got a functioning attack.

Don't think we can afford him being first choice for much longer. Can't consistently defend high balls and gets pulled out of position all the time. He defends like he's 15 years old.

 

But yeah, he seems like a good teammate and a strong character.

He started off poorly today but so did the whole team, the midfield especially. Stoke's opener was down to many mistakes being made of which Lovren was part of. Once we settled down as a team Lovren went on to have a very good game.

He was at fault for their goal but overall he had a very decent game. If we had a top keeper backing him up we would be saying he was one of the best CB's in the league

He had a good game overall tonight but he's made a couple of costly errors this season e.g., he lost his man for the goal tonight, the shanked clearance against Palace, also similar against Bournemouth. I wouldn't mind seeing Klavan and Matip given a go.

Stop giving him the ball to play it out from the back, he cant do it. Just get him to defend or go up field for corners.

He did.. I do enjoy his 'active' style of defending.. being on the front foot all the time. It's risky but it means nipping any danger in the bud early.

His passing is actually very good. Even the long distance ones.

 

He still occasionally fancies himself as Franz Beckenbauer which is slightly annoying, but Gerrard used to get the same Hollywood ball criticism.
