CONCACAF can be proud of their teams' performances at this World Cup. Apart from Honduras who were shit and thuggish, Mexico gave a good account of themselves and both Costa Rica and USA got far more out of their squads than the sum of the parts. CAF (Africa) did better than in 2010 even though none of their sides got to the quarter finals this time, and AFC (Asia) need to look at their teams who didn't win a single game between them.

 

Thought Australia looked a bit better than most would have expected. They were in a ridiculous tough group. Japan and South Korea were absolutely toothless. Plenty of neat and tidy passing until they get to the final third, where they never looked like scoring enough goals.

They stayed on their line and tried to put off their opponents. Krul wasted time by wandering around the penalty area, then walking up the the kicker and having words. The referee should have told him early on to cut that shit out but he let him off so Krul kept doing it.

Players talk to each other and time waste all the time. I don't see the big deal. Costa Rica were wasting time from the first minute.

That's why they had Van Persie, Robben, Sneijder and Kuyt stepping up to do the business. How often do you see defenders that have never taken a kick step up and look nervous while the team's star players shits out or waits to take the 5th penalty? It's probably the one situation where I'd go for pragmatism and surety every single time.

That's fair enough but the biggest single factor was Krul. He was allowed to wander about in the area ,delaying the taking of the kick, whist sledging the penalty takers. He should have been booked immediately. It was completely staged managed by VG and he should have been allowed to get away with it
