Clever bit of timing.

Let the tories inevitably tie themselves up in knots lying and covering their arses (party didn't happen/if it did everyone stuck to the rules.) Let them try to pull out a few distractions to flood the media so people forget about it (omicron/boosters/lockdowns/immigration)

Then just as people are looking like they've got bored and are moving on, drop the evidence that they're a bunch of lying hypocritical pricks.

Although I can't help but think that this whole tory Christmas party thing is the real distraction, and there's something even bigger going on that they're trying to hide.

Can't see it. He'll bunker down for Xmas. Come out the other side and then lift the restrictions. Give it a few weeks and the imbeciles who vote for him will forget why they went off him before Xmas and remember he gave them Brexit.

The covid passes so far have 100 Tory rebels so that alone is a huge issue and they're at their most basic level right now. If they start getting added to more areas it could get worse for him quickly. If he eventually lifts all restrictions and brings us back to how we were before yesterday though he might be ok.

It would indeed be trouble for him if the opposition party's opposed the passes but they're propping him up.

It's not going to stop Tories from being pissed off though or thinking about trying to get a new leader in if things don't improve for them. I just saw this on the Guardian too, if this turns out to be a lie it could make backbench Tories a lot worse I think :

Quote

Many Tory MPs made it clear in the debate that they wanted an assurance that, if further Covid restrictions are needed over Christmas, parliament will be recalled. Sajid Javid, the health secretary, could not give this promise during the debate, and Johnson himself was ambiguous on this point when he addressed the Conservative 1922 Committee, shortly before the debate.

But now the government is explicity making this promise - about 12 hours after it might have helped win over a few votes. Grant Shapps, the transport secretary, has been making that clear in his morning broadcast round. He told BBC Breakfast:

"We have got in place now the measures that we believe will see us through to the new year. If we did need to do anything else, parliament would be recalled too in order to vote on doing that, so it won’t just be an automated thing."

Well of course these restrictions will be enough. They've moved on the news cycle, they'll go to recess soon and nobody will be arsed over Christmas if more "party" stories come out. They're in the clear till the new year and by then they can lift restrictions and if there's another attack on them at the time, they'll string it out to make it controversial so it consumes the news cycle.

Baffles me how the media are being allowed to get away scot free in all of this.

There is no way they’ve not been privy to this info from when it happened.

All mixing in the same circles and not one of them will fall for their participation.

Shysters! Each and every one of ‘em.

Today the pm criticised labour for focusing on 'trivialarities 'such as breaking the rules, they themselves set,and let them get in with protecting the British public (stop sniggering at the back)

In a spooky coincidence, only last week the daily mail was ripping into the bbc for focusing on trivial issues like the Christmas party, and ignoring the new variant.
