For once very hard to pick 3 outstanding performers, as the whole team did so well! I'd have to go with:

1. Alonso - apart from sliding once in the first half he played this game to perfection I thought. Has risen from the dead, so to speak, and I just love everything he does. My favourite Liverpool player and I pray that we get to keep him for a long time. He just oozes class in everything he does (and says). So calm on the ball, always chooses the right option and never lets his head go down. Oh, and he scored our first at the bridge since Cheyrou (shudder...).

2. Riera - how brilliant has it been to have a player on the left hand side that can keep hold of the ball and do something positive with it? Improving every game and together with Aurelio nullified the threat of Bosingwa, limiting him to a few wayward crosses.

3. Carra - was everywhere. Tackling, heading, blocking, shouting. Istanbul'esque performance! I really think it was our midfield that allowed to win this game, otherwise Carra would have topped the list. In a perfect world, he would play himself out from defense more (Aurelio-style), but Carra is safety first, and I respect that. Classical defender - none better at it than Carra. He must also be the best positional player in the country? Can't even begin to think of how many times he's been closing down or blocking shots over the years, he's always in the right place at the right time it seems.

Honourable mentions to all of the others (Rafa included of course), I think everyone did superbly today, and even though the three above perhaps stood out a bit, the whole team seemed really up for it! Go on you reds!

As pathetic as it sounds I don't want to name a top three as I thought every player stood up and had a great game. I loved Babels attitude as well - the bollocking he gave Mascerano and his reaction when his shot just went wide. Whatever it is, those fires need to be kept well stoked.

1. Carra

2. Alonso

3. Riera
