In all the analysis and comment over the last 36 hrs or so on the net and the tele, nobody wants to mention the real issue here - it isn’t whether or not Trent should have got a yellow or a 2nd yellow, or Virg should have got a yellow or a red, its the complete lack of awareness that Trent was dumped out of play w/o the ball being played, or that Joelinton was fouling up and down the pitch all afternoon, w/o receiving a yellow. In other words the total bias of the referee against one side, with no impartiality.

These are two issues imo mate.

There is the card/no card matter with Virg and Trent and then the overall performance of the ref and whether he impartially applied the rules . I agree that he failed miserably to do this in the case of Joelinton . He also got the Trent booking badly wrong and it was a rail crash for the ref after that as he tried to “balance the books”

This is superb.

Another measure of that cunt Howe is that he can be seen in the video applauding the shithouse foul by Gordon on Trent that led to the yellow and affected massively the subsequent flow of the match.

He had 5/6 big calls to make in the game.

He booked Trent for throwing the ball 5 yards onto the pitch, after being fouled himself. 5 minutes into a big game, to book a defender for that is a huge call.

I genuinely think that there was no call to make on the Trent/Gordon challenge but the Newcastle crowd/players and the clowns on their line were baying for a yellow. No card given. However, some would say it evens out the first incient, if Trent deserved a yellow, but it riled up their crowd, stressed Trent to the point where he was awful for the remainder of the half, gave up a goal and it changed the flow of the game.

Nobody would have batted an eyelid if he gave a yellow to Virgil. It would not have been changed to a red by VAR and only a handful of Newcastle fans on social media (and Shay Given probably) would have mentioned it.

Joelinton waved a card at the ref after the Trent foul, no card. Joelinton waved a card at the ref after the Virgil foul, no card. Joelinton committed his 3rd foul in 8 minutes nearing the end of the 1st half, no card, but a word of warning. Joelinton ploughed through Mac Allister a couple of minute later, in 1st half injury time, no card. Joelinton committed a foul on Gakpo, stopping a break in the 47th minute. Foul and no card.

Guimares committed 4 fouls, three of which stopped Liverpool counterattacks. No card.

Darwin kicked the ball away when Szoboszlai committed a foul. Yellow card.

It was either a blatantly biased performance by the ref or he coincidentally arrived at a Newcastle favouring decision for all of the big calls.

The post above yours said he committed a foul at the start of the second half.

How he got through the game without a yellow card is absolutely mindblowing.

All this talk of extending VVD suspension because of his dissent after the ridiculous red. Dissent, the punishment for which is a yellow. But yeah add another 3 games to the suspension.

Abusive language to an official can be a straight red.

Honestly pawson dealt with it like an adult and, in the interest of not wanting to re-referee everything, it should be left there. Considering we let them get away with all that "dragged his arm back" bollocks last season...

The one in the 47th/48th minute, where Gakpo turns with Tonali behind him, pulling him and then Joelinton ploughs through him was accredited to Tonali but Linton also fouled him.

They are like some Scousers.

A Geordie who works with Mr's O'T spent ages looking for a car, because the first few he wanted to buy had Mackem-red stitching on the black upholstery, and that was a deal-breaker.

Haha, That's fair enough.

To be fair, a few years back me and the missus were car shopping for a small car for her. She found one that she liked but I wouldn't agree because the reg plate had the letters UTD on it and it was a red car.

She had to pick another.

Where did you get that info? He was called over to the ref after his fourth foul,  went on to commit a foul within 5 minutes and the ref let him off. Add that to the 2 calls for cards plus the shoulder into Mac Allister's head and he's done enough to get sent off 3 times.
