My understanding was that it was Lampard who binned off Luiz, so I don’t know why Chelsea fans booed him..... apart from the fact that they are moronic cunts. They did show a rare display of wit, though, when they sang ‘David Luiz, he’s one of our own’, after he got himself sent off. Happily, it bit them in the arse.

    Tottenham 0 Liverpool 1 (Jan 11 2020)

In fairness to MotD, Lineker described it in pretty much the same way, shooting down Bitter Danny's comments in flames. As for comparisons with the Aubameyang, it's a whle different kettle of fish - PEA's tackle was late, noweher near the ball. Robbo won the ball first before making contact - it's only in recent years that such a challenge has been interpreted as a potential foul. No sane person would consider that as a red. Totally spot on report, Dave. While I was watching it, I was thinking about the fact that we were away to Spurs, who have been our match - or more - for most of the last decade - and they were shit scared of us, and we were bossing it as if we were up against some lower league minnows. The Mourinho-influence narrative about injury-stricken underdogs doesn't hold water when set in the context of us having to play the same 13 or so players against most of the division's form teams - Watford,Leicester,Wolves, SheffU - plus the WCC in the space of a month, without Lov,Matip, Fabs, Shaqs, and Milly, Keita and Ox for chunks of it. Even though they ahd a bit of a break, it was no wonder we looked a bit mentally and physically jaded in the last 15.

What’s the opposite of a tactical masterclass? That’s what we’re seeing from Villa. Five really shit defenders dropping deep at the first hint of trouble, marking two forwards ...... whilst leaving loads of space in midfield for two of the best assist makers in PL history all the time in the world to pick their passes.
  4. Who mentioned conspiracies? Conspiracies by definition involve multiple people. Atkinson is one man with an agenda. If you can’t see a pattern in his performances when we’re playing you should look a bit harder. I can’t be arsed citing a long long list of shocking decisions he’s given against us but everyone else here knows what I’m saying

Premier League Round Up (Dec 21-22 2019)

Chelsea have been going down on my hate-o-meter for a little while now (not their fans, though), and I find Lampard hard to dislike. Tottenham on the other hand have been very cuntish ever since Pochettino walked through the door, and they're only going to get worse under the present incuntbent.

    January 2020 Transfer Thread

I think it's a bit unfair to lump Gomez in with Lovren and Matip. Although he has missed a lot of games but that's down to two major injuries, an ACL early in his career here and a Burnley-induced broken leg last season. he was available pretty much every game last season up to then and every game since his recovery. There's nothing otherwise to suggest he's going to be a perennial sick note like the other two. Agree totally, however, that we can't carry on with having two CBs with a chronic record of frequent illnesses (in Lovren's case - what's going on there?) and niggly injuries, both Lovren and Matip. Meantime, I'm not at all convinced by Sepp van den Berg and expect Hoever to play full back for a few years before moving into the middle........ So..... move Lovren on in the summer and bring in a reliable option.

    RB Salzburg 0 Liverpool 2 (Dec 10 2019)

'Only bad luck or bad officiating can stop this team.' - Like the awful decisions in each of the Napoli games that helped put us in the position we were in last night. Thought the ref was decent last night on the whole. Cracking match, cracking performance from the Mentality Monsters. This is a great time to be a Red, and I count the minute before each game.

The decade when we were champions half a dozen times and won the Euro Cup twice?

Just about to comment on that! I'm 63 and I have no idea when that might have been.

    Ballon D'or

Would be interesting to see how Messi would have coped with the kind of thuggish tackles Pele had to endure in the 66 World Cup. They probably would have broken him forever. Pele, on the other hand, came back to lead what was probably the best team I've ever seen and win the 70 World Cup.

    Liverpool 2 Brighton 1 (Nov 30 2019)

I guess they slept through Arsenal,3-1 and Norwich 4-1. Muppets. Burnely 3-0. And whilst we're not keeping clean sheets, it should also be pointed out that no-one has scored more than once against us in the league. Atkinson. Nobody has had such a blatant agenda agaionst us since Webb, yet no-one in the media notices it?!

    Sterling / Gomez - 'clash'

He should have had a red on Sunday actually - his hissy fit of dissent in the first half, an arm in Mane's face in the 2nd, clattering Virgil towards the end, and being an all round pathetic twat for 90 minutes.

Lots of young talent........ which they've acquired over the years by breaking all the regulations concerning recruitment and registration of young players....and which is the reason for the current transfer ban.

Man City - the new bitters?

And they've hardly played anyone yet - toughest games have been against us and United away, both lost, and Leicester home, draw. They're at City after the break, that'll be interesting..... immediately after we play Palace. Palace are rank at the moment, hardly put a glove on either Chelsea or Leicester, but we're everybody else's cup final these days, so we can expect an extra level of intensity and commitment (not to mention Hodgson's motivation for a result).

    Youth Team/Cup

Complete mis-match physically. Why do our junior teams seem constantly short of players at the moment? U23s haven’t been able to field a forward for the last couple of games.
  17. Bravo nailed on to have a worldie, just like Gazzaniga did a couple of weeks back after Loris got injured. (Didn't stop us in the end though).

    Aston Villa 1 Liverpool 2 (Nov 2 2019)

Agree totally with all of this. Contrast our lads (& Marriner) allowing Arsenal to take that quick free kick last Wednesday versus Spurs' antics the previous Sunday (standing over the ball repeatedly until Taylor, at about the 4th time of asking finally booked someone). Of course it's just coincidence that the refs in our last 4 domestic games have been - Moss, Marriner, Taylor and Atkinson, 4 of our least favourite refs. But it doesn't help how we the same few wankers time and again. And just because I'm anal about these things, I looked at Atkinson's recent involvement and noticed that he refereed us 5 times out of the last 15 PL games last season (!), although from what I recall, it was only the first of those (Leicester) where he screwed us over. Was it Jeff Winter that said that he was effectively banned from officiating at OT for years after incurring Ferguson's wrath one time? We need some of that power & influence.

    Liverpool 5 Arsenal 5 (Oct 30 2019)

Anyone else think the praise for Ozil in the media is way over the top? He's a World Cup winner, their highest paid player and he had a decent game against a scratch side, including 5 lads aged 20 or under and a defence who had barely met each other before Wednesday...and a no. 6 who's only ever played their in one other competitive game (against MK Dons!). You'd think it was the 2nd coming from some of the media analysis. I was resigned to losing this when I saw the line-ups but pleased for the lads getting a game. Their attitude was great despite making plenty of mistakes.Brewster didn't stand out so much, but his commitment and desire were fantastic - a couple of tough tackles close together in the 2nd half on the MS side really got the crowd up. The sight of the young lads rushing off the subs bench to mob Neco W after the equaliser was brilliant, too. Got fed up listening to the 5Live team creaming themselves over Rashford's goal and switched to TalkShite - where an Arsenal fan was having a rant - 'Champions of Europe? They let in 5 at home! Klopp should have a better squad than to let 5 in at home'. The TS guys were almost speechless at the stupidity.

    VAR shit show 19/20

Maybe we should poach Tottenham's falling-down coach to make our 'embellishments' look more authentic. (Still wouldn't get us a decision at OT,mind).

    VAR shit show 19/20

Yeah, a bit like late in the 2nd half when Mane and McGuire went for a ball in their box, Sadio made a tiny bit of contact, Slabhead goes down like a sack of spuds....and gets the free-kick. If anything, there's less contact than that on Origi. Consistency. Thresholds - what's 'minimal', what's 'substantial'. If you're going to apply the 'minimal contact' thing, it has to be applied consistently, otherwise you're leaving yourself open to legitimate accusations of bias, which is exactly what Atkinson did yesterday. Really can't understand anyone suggesting Origi wasn't fouled, when he's clearly kicked - you can even see his calf muscle rippling with the impact.

Premier League Round Up (Oct 5-6 2019)

Anyone else think there's a certain irony in the Chelsea situation?........ Having to play their youngsters because of a transfer ban. Their decent start is largely down to the performances of their youngsters, Abraham (Kevin?!, didn't know that!), Mount, Tomori. What was their transfer ban for - 29 infringements regarding the recruitment and registration of.... young footballers.

    Liverpool 2 Leicester City 1 (Oct 5 2019)

Spot on. I've seen some weird reports on this game, mainly fuelled by the penalty and 'Luckypool' narrative, but I sat through that match thinking - 'this is a 3-0 type of game, how come we're not winning 3-0?' because that was the level of our dominance. The scoreline flatters Leicester massively and I feel they're being over-hyped right now because of how crap United and Spurs are and how bang average Arsenal are.
