Only the English could bring Geoff Hurst into this discussion.

He's fairly relevant in this one, I'd have thought.

Funny though, the doco about him is apparently titled 'Hurst the First...and Only'

Might have to go back to the editing room.

Martinez will probably get something like the Popemobile designed and drive through France in it next week.

Fuck, I laughed!

The bloke is about to be deified in Argentina. Like he gives a fuck about people calling him a shithouse or cunt.

For 70-odd minutes it was one of the most one-sided finals you could imagine. Then the Argies took off Di Maria and brought on Acuna (I bet that guy had a monobrow until the eve of the tournament), while the French gambled and brought on a couple of extra attackers and put a midfielder at left back. After that, Mbappe was on a mission and the game became very end to end.

Mbappe hat-trick plus the Golden Boot, and he still ends up a runner-up. Not helped by Lloris who was not only powderpuff in the shoot-out, but did nothing to help his teammates. Remember Ali in the FA Cup final for us? He grabbed the ball after each Chelsea penalty to make sure he was the one handing it to a teammate before their kick and offering some words of encouragement, eliminating the chance of some mind game bollocks by Chelsea's Mendy. Lloris watched Martinez take the absolute piss and just stood there.

Messi has been the best player in the game for the last 15 years. He's won everything he could win at club level, and he's now done the same at international level. He has been part of better Argentina squads, but that's how it sometimes goes.

Aguero the pitch invader!

Unlucky Ibou. You certainly made an impact for your team in your limited time. However down you might feel now, your fellow Reds will lift you back up.
