I’ve no idea who Moya Mclean is, nor what gal-dem is (surely the highlight of any political writer’s career), but if she is ‘attacking from the left’ then she’s a tit. The left in this country are fucking idiots. I’ve been saying it for years. They are serial losers. There’s large pockets that sit thinking they’re the moral arbiters of the nation but really all they do is enable Tories. I hate the dickheads. They lose a landslide election so that opposition has no power and then complain about Labour ‘supporting’ government (on horrible right wing causes like saving lives and paying money to workers) and then hit out when they don’t support them and perpetuate the Tory attack line. You had one of them on here the other day quoting Boris’. What’s their play here anyway? Get Starmer to lose an election and stand down, or maybe get voted out in a VONC? Fine, then what? Corbyn again? RLB? Yeah, good luck with that. The left have nothing to offer in terms of leading the party and winning an election. So what’s the end game? Burn it down until the embers smoke on the ground? I’m serious, if anybody from the left can give me a comprehensive plan on how to win back power and 1) do it from the left 2) name the left-wing leader that could sell it and win back power on a left wing agenda, then I’ll join the cause. I’m more than happy for Starmer to get fucked off, but don’t do so without having a better option, otherwise it’s ‘Hodgson’s choice’ bullshit. Put up or shut up.

They’re not the left in the eyes of people who know what the left is, but they are the left that’s visible and vocal. They’re the new generation with no ideas and no ability. It’s tragic.
 

I am interested in their alternative vision though. I’m somebody who wants the Tories out. Aside from New Labour, which they hate, Labour hasn’t had a government since 1974. The world has changed a bit since then and winning back power in that way hasn’t worked since. So what’s the plan.

I wonder if Keir or any of the Labour centrists have ever read "Listen Liberal" by Thomas Frank? If they haven't, they should. The similarities between modern Labour are striking. The abandonment of working class roots in favour of business interests has left the void where Trumpism and Brexit have flourished. There seems to be a huge disconnect between Labour the leadership and the ground troops stretching back to the last Blair government. If they don't get everyone back on the same page then the Tories will be at the helm for the next couple of decades at least.

Gal-dem is a progressive female empowered publication that has a lot of views on race, gender, politics from people who normally wouldn’t have their voices heard. They do some good work, normally, but, for all their high minded ideals and calls for equality they have a blind spot to equality in renumeration when it comes to paying their contributors fairly....

 

One might call them hypocritical, if one we’re so inclined.
