Third has gone, as apart from the Man Utd game, Man City look to have an easy run in. And they are usually OK at swatting aside the lesser teams, especially now that their attack is clicking a bit more (I think a lot of that is down to Sane settling in nicely - wish we would have got him).

Anyhow, since third has likely gone, I'm hoping for Man City to beat Man Utd, as that will put us back on an even keel after our Palace debacle. They will have a game in hand but I expect them to win that and draw level.

Then it's touch and go. Who will drop more points? They have harder fixtures but we can't seem to put a winning run together either, and Arsenal are coming up on the rails.

I think we will get our act together just enough to stumble over the line in fourth, but we'll see. Need a Man City win today.

I'd say we're safe in terms of Arsenal catching us because they can't afford to drop 1 point and have Tottenham and Utd still to play. I always want Man Utd to lose and tonight's no different but in reality a draw would probably be better for us but as you said City will more than likely finish 3rd anyway so its irrelevant I guess, so yea I'd love a 5-0 thrashing by City!

A draw would be a terrible result for us as it would leave qualification totally out of our hands and mean if Utd could win all their remaining games we could do nothing to finish above them...and as G Richards says City will probaboy finish above us anyway - even a loss for City tonight and they could still post a total it is impossible for us to match by winning all their games ..only result tonight that puts it back in our own hands (well as near as damn it) is a City win.

A draw tonight and both manc clubs closing out season with wins would see them both finish above us.

We have to assume they could win their games after tonight in same way we have to hope we can do same and in all honesty who would you stick your hard earned on to win a handful of games on the bounce when needed....

Utd still got Tottenham and Arsenal. A draw ain't the worst result as they'd have to go out to beat both and not take a draw.

Obviously all this is based on us winning our last 4 matches.

We need to win our all our remaining games. We won't.

I think 8 maybe 9  points will be enough and probably goal difference will be a factor

Having said that i will be amazed if we get more than 7 points now , we really are so weak in midfield and defence - Klopp should stick Grujic in midfield and get him fired up for a good scrap , otherwise we have fuck all to look forward to

it really does not matter what mancs or arsenal do - our own shithouses will without doubt fuck up and fail - it is what they do. You just can't trust this side - they are total bottlers and completely incapable of winning football matches when it really matches.

Yup, that's where I am at the moment. Looking back you could make a case that the wheels began to fall off when Coutinho got injured in late November. I can only think of a couple of games since then that we won convincingly: Boro away and the Anfield derby. The rest have all had an element of "could go either way" about them. Events seem to control this team rather than the other way round so anything could happen in the last 4 games.

It's frustrating because Klopp had 8 months last season to work English football out and come up with a substantial improvement this year and no matter what happens in the next 4 games does an extra handful of league wins really constitute the sort of progress we expected without the distraction of Europe?

Supporting Liverpool is like some universal joke, where you get strung along to the very last moment so the maximum amount of hurt and suffering can be inflicted upon you. It wouldn't feel like us if there wasn't some hope, however fleeting, of achieving something.

We're usually like the old adage about the despair being able to live with, but the hope killing us - Well this year, no! we're fucking well not, we're both. If these fuckin cunts ruin my summer one more time - and remember theres no football tournament this summer to take our minds off the disappointment and utter shitness of Liverpool  -  I'll lose it totally and start to enjoy tennis or some other totally mindbogglingly crap sport like that.

I fucking hate us

Dreading this game tonight.

Not the result, though I'm almost dreading that as well as United getting anything from this game is a major problem for us.  No, I'm dreading the actual game.

Mourinho as the away manager, needing a draw at a minimum?  This game is going to be dire.  He's going to park the bus, get stuck in, and if the ref doesn't give a yellow card or two in the first 15 minutes then it's going to be one of those nights that's just awful for the neutral to watch.
