I went to see Protomartyr the other week. Their most recent album Relatives in Descent is pretty good. Check it out if you like a bit of North American wordy rock stuff. The guitarist only played one instrument the entire set, which I appreciate. Couple of effects pedals, no need to muck about with loads of different guitars at different tunings, etc.

Off to see Beck this evening.

Fantastic album.

I've heard a couple of snippets from this now & it sounds amazing. You can hear where the MC5 were influenced by The Who here, can't wait to hear this right through.

Hopefully it's as good as The Yardbirds live set from around the same time which came out last year (Jimmy Page's tone on this would cut through concrete).

Sorry, I can't seem to embed it but that's two Eddie Cochrane covers from The Who album.

Watched the Peter Green documentary which I taped from Sky Arts recently last night, 'Man of the World'.

Recommended.

Fascinating. I wont say completely enjoyable. Greeny is God to me - along with Rory and Jan Ackerman.

My ultimate heroes.

To see Peter fall so spectacularly is heartbreaking.

Brilliant that, if more than a bit sad at times.  Green in the late 60's was as cool as it gets

I went to see Mercury Rev in Galway last Saturday, it was the "Deserter's Songs" 20th anniversary tour, absolutely sublime show. Anthony Thistlethaite from the Waterboys joined them on saxophone for a few tunes too.

In addition to the Jeff Beck documentary, Sky Arts were showing an Alice Cooper one at the weekend called Super Duper Alice Cooper that mostly covered his early 70s glory years. Well worth a watch. Can't believe the state he got himself into in the early 80s though, cocaine is a terrible thing (sometimes).

Teenage Lament '74 is one of the greatest songs ever written.

If you want rock n roll then AC/DC, Motorhead and Iron Maiden are all you really need.

I think Chuck Berry might've had something to say about AC/DC being on the list before him.

But he's dead so you're fine.
