I feel for the bloke because going on his southampton form, he's a good player, but I'm very worried that he's in a bad spiral and unless he makes it through the next few games, he'll be shipped out in the summer. As others have noted, he's very rash, lacks awareness and he seems to get caught out by players with any sort of pace. For all the pre season talk of him being a leader and a communicator, all I see is a fella who roars and shouts.

 

we have a relatively easy run of games in the league so there's a decent shot at a few clean sheets. Fingers crossed because we really need him to come good, but I share the concerns about him.

 

I will say in his defence that he's getting fuck all protection from the midfield and he is surrounded by a lot of new defenders.

I'd replace him with Sakho if he was fit. Lovren is a strange one, he he can go from looking like a commanding centre half to making basic errors in  the same game. he's also got to cut out his long range passing because he always looses the ball when he tries it. I dont think he's  either very slow or very fast he had enough pace for a centre back. He's an enigma could go either way. Has to improve his positioning, gets caught on the wrong side to often.

Sometimes Lovren plays like Rodgers has told him that we need to win the ball back within 6 seconds but nobody else has been told it.

 

Whatever did happen to that winning the ball back within 6 seconds? I'm not sure any if our defenders will come good until this team finds it's style again. We play like we have no identity, fucking shame it is.

Very disappointing so far, and it seems Rodgers is struggling to find his preferred partnership in central defence.
