Don't think so - unless it was to do with him playing in midfield.

Have always said RB in our old system was by far the best use of his skills.

That said - a couple other fellas have done pretty well slotting in for us from fullback so..

Ah we are back to the same. I remember if you don't. You're not a fan of Trent in midfield and give me Bradley above him at right back

That sounds about right.

Trent is not yet a very good midfielder and I imagine most prefer Bradley at RB in this moment.

Why would we want to move Robbo on ?

He's good, reliable, committed, not that expensive surely.

Gomez has gotten lots of credits, and he deserves it, but I think Andy Robertson is playing in another world.

If we set up 4231 then Robbo is fine, if Xabi does come in and plays his leverkusen system Robbo isn't going to fit as a Grimaldo/Frimpong type.

The headache re Trent is the timing of his contract with this injury.

Not sure anyone thinks this year's right back version of Trent can be paid at the level he is now, much less get an increase. He is not the same player he was from RB when he earned that increase for a number of reasons.

I think we would have got a pretty good look at him in midfield these last couple months if he hadn't been hurt.

If we go to a back 3, robbo would be fine playing as part of that. He's not tall, but he's still decent in the air. It'd be no difference really than what he's been doing this season when Trent was playing the hybrid role.

As for Trent being a headache. Fuck me. That's the type of a headache we should be made up to have.

If I'm being honest, I don't think Jurgen has used Trent as well as Guardiola has used Stones. Robbo for me is the reason for that. If we played 3 centre backs like Konate, Virgil, Gomez and let Trent truly roam, that would be so much better.

I can see why you would say that - also understand there are a few reasons why Klopp hasn't and, I don't think any other manager would either.

It's just not a part of the field that allows for much flexibility now, especially in this league.

I think we all agree it's getting a spare man free and that's easier to find from players coming from defence now. When Salah, Foden, De Bruyne, Saka are smothered having somebody as good as Trent picking up that space from deep is gold now. I still think Man City were quicker to see this that's why they bought defenders to suit. Walker, Ake, Akanji, Gvardiol are all perfect for that system.

Whilst I agree on Trent's unique skillset, I don't think it's outlandish to envisage a scenario where his inclusion is a potential headache for a new manager.

He's not going to go back to just running the flank. It's like latter era Gerrard - you want him in your team, but things have to be shifted around to accommodate him. Some managers don't care for that.

Trent is no longer a full back, I'd agree with that. Trent being a headache is just ridiculous. The game has changed loads in just 5 years. Any manager who can't make a unique talent like Trent fit in the modern game isn't worth having.

There are loads of great managers who have looked at some great players and thought they would rather not try to make it work.

Guardiola has a bunch of examples.

It's still not a headache to any manager with talent. Trent is one of the best passers of a football in the league. If a manager can't work out how to use that, I would suggest we haven't got the right manager. The last thing we need after the years we've had klopp is being in a manager who's afraid of talent.

Which players like Trent has Guardiola given up on? I can think of 100's of forwards managers can't be arsed with but very rare they quit on playmakers.

It's gotta be "playmakers" for it to count, does it?

Cancelo was not dissimilar to Trent in profile and Guardiola unceremoniously dumped his ass, then went in a different direction.

Even though I’ve said earlier Trent, imo, wouldn’t be suited to 3-4-3 at right back, I’m absolutely, 1000000%, do not think we should be considering selling him under any circumstances.
