I'm probably one of many that just thought we were getting a good pro but a journeyman that would be a squad player and possibly do a job in the cups. But bloody hell the lad has been amazing for us since he found his feet after a few games. Exactly what you want from a player, just gives everything and does his job no fuss. Got a far better eye for a pass than you think aswell.

The quality of his passing when he first came into the side was ok, but it was a little safe and slow. But he's starting to get the ball out of his feet and forward so much more quickly now, I would say just in the games since he's come back from the Asia cup. Let's hope he can keep this up, because it feels inevitable if he's fit, he's going to have to play most of the games in the run in.

To be fair Klopp acknowledged how quickly he was moving the ball forward before he went away for the Asia cup, I think it's just that first impressions seem to stick with certain players.  His passing between the lines is very good.  He's definitely our best option as a 6, and he had another really effective game in the final.  For me, if he's fit, he plays.

Now Herr Schmadtke, you know what to do. Get on the blower and set the groundworks to get this guy for the upcoming transfer window. He's 40 years old you say? Pah! Energizer Bunny's got nothing on this guy. To paraphrase shitcoat, I got tired just watching this reel.

Him and Endo in the middle, no fucker's gonna get through our midfield. Get it done, schnell!

I was surprised when we bought a 30-year-old, but I didn't consider that he was a Japanese 30-year-old, and they all play into their 40s and live into their 100s. Got a good 5 or 6 years in him yet, at least.

He did mention it before the Asia cup. But there was a game I can't remember if Macca came off the bench or it was his first game back and his passing ability was just incredibly noticeable on what we'd seen before. And for during that run, I though maccas defensive stuff was at the best it had been all season. I think if everyone was fit and in form I would go macca, Dom and Jones. But I'm not sure that's a problem we'll have to face for quite a while. And even because this discussion is a thing, it's fine lines and which ever 6 we play out of mac and endo, I think we're in great shape. We just need more of these cunts fit now.

At first, I thought we’d signed someone who, at this stage in his career, seemed closer to a Championship player than one who’d end up being an outstanding part of a Premier League title challenge. I was completely and utterly wrong, of course.
