To be a very good no.10, you need to have quick feet, be able to receive the ball on the turn with your back to goal and marked. Trent has never shown that he is top class at any of these

Agreed, you need much the same as an 8 and also be able to press quickly and see then track runners defensively.

I've said a number of times that him in midfield at elite level is wishful thinking. Glad to be proven wrong.

The way i could see him working in a midfield is doing the same job that De Bruyne does for the abu dhabi oilers - which would of course mean utilising the same set up as the oilers.

We just bought two attacking 8s, we arent going to play Trent there.

I never said we would - just saying that is where IMO i feel he would fit and be most effective as a midfielder.

Of course whether we should or not is another and fair debate.

I often agree with you and enjoy discussing stuff with you - but i make you dead wrong here...Fernandes might be a cunt, a rat bastard and a shithouse - but he has been superb for those bastards and is one of the main reasons they are now back in the top 4 and the european cup.

I'd give my right arm for a midfielder at our club as reliable as him, who we can build a midfield around and who is as influential as he is for them.

Fernandez has been one of their best players. But he's massively inconsistent. That may not be his fault, he might need rotating and resting, but he's not at it all the time and many times a season he gives a 4 out of 10 type performance. Personally I would be arsed about having him here..he's the perfect midfielder for a team a bit off the top.
