*Shakes head* Everton again.

So they've signed a bloke with you'll never walk alone tattooed on his chest, and another dude who's second name translates to Red.

And they've claimed the liverbird as theirs now.

If they carry on like this they might as well change their kits to red and admit they want to be us.

They are in danger of winning something if this carries on.

Everton are ready to move for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo after growing frustrated at Barcelona in their pursuit of Yerry Mina, Goal understands.

The Toffees had hoped to sign the Colombia international, who enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign, for a fee of £27m ($35m) .

Barca have, however, refused to deviate from their £35m ($47m) asking price, leading to Marco Silva’s side to consider other targets.

With the Premier League transfer window due to close on August 9, time is running out for the Toffees to solve their defensive issues, and as such they are now looking at bringing in Rojo.

A deal for 23-year-old Mina may not be completely dead, however, and Goal understands Everton could be using interest in the Argentine as a tactic to hurry the Catalans towards a decision.

Lyon are also interested in the defender and are hopeful that the prospect of Champions League football could be sufficient to lure him to France , while the Ligue 1 outfit have time on their side with their transfer window not closing until the end of August.

There had been suggestions that Manchester United were themselves interested in signing Mina, but Goal understands that is not the case.

The player himself has, meanwhile, removed all traces of Barcelona from his Instagram account, having endured a frustrating six-month spell at Camp Nou.

Having only arrived from Palmeiras in January, he appeared only a handful of times for the first team under Ernesto Valverde.

It was at Russia 2018 that Mina really caught the eye, though. He scored three times for Colombia as they reached the last 16 of the competition, where they were defeated by England on penalties.

Pickford targets top six. That's not going to happen. Some of the smaller teams have strengtened considerably. Their defence is slow as a Titanic turn. They'll be hammered by fast paced counter teams.

Ofcourse if Silva parks the bus Allardyce style they could maybe sneak into the top half. Pickford the ultimate TV shot stopper, throwing himself around the pitch making a meal of it everytime. positioning like a u-16 player, will face a million shots and they'll be in there with a ton conceded.

Who are they going to replace in the top six? On the basis of what?

They'll finish seventh, eighth, or ninth.

I have no idea, it's a very bold statement from him. It'll be like us saying we'll be champions. We are not by any means favorites for the title and I won't utter a word about us being challengers. We've strenghtened considerably, still a number ten short of picking the bus parkers apart regularly. I hope to be pleasantly surprised though.

Wouldn't be shocked if they finished outside the top 10.

Burnley will likely be 7-10th if Europe doesn't fuck them. Wolves will likely be good if one of their strikers can get the goals. Then theirs Leicester but that all depends on Gray or Maddison replacing Mahrez

First and foremost I'm delighted he's here to shift Baines out of the team. But that tattoo is indefensible. Obvioulsy he never knew he'd be signing for us, but that is by the by. He has a football related motto scrawled on his chest that is associated with our arch enemy. It'd be like Celtic signing a player with 'No Surrender ' etched on his body or Rangers signing a player with a 'God Bless the Pope' tattoo.

Ok, that's all emotive and will soon abate after the initial mullering we'll get in the media dies down. But the substantive point is this: if/when he hits poor form he's going to find few friends at this club. That tattoo is etched not only on his chest but in the back of the minds of Evertonians. He will be given a lot less time to regain form and win over fans, that is for sure. THAT is the point.
