This might seem a bit petty but a Chelsea fan is driving me completely up the wall.

Was there any reason why the Anfield Road End was converted into seats in 1982?

He says it's because Liverpool had shit support and had to reduce the capacity.

Obviously, this is not the reason but finding any info has been a bit difficult.

Any help to shut the annoying rent boy up would be appreciated!

It was just modernisation (paddock), there was a few things happened that year, underground heating (pitch) was also installed, along with the Shankly gates.

PS: the paddock was converted in 1980.

He's a fucking mong.

The club had wanted to seat the Anny Road for a few years before that but fan opposition was against the idea.

But, seats actually generate more income which was the reason behind the eventual change.

And hahaha, a fucking chelshit fan say our support was shit in 82! Fucking hell.

Yes, a sofa was installed to accommodate the Chelsea fans.

It was the around the time of the Crown Paints sponsorship and we installed blocks of different coloured sections of seats as part of the modernisation of the stadium.

A Chelsea fan who remembers further back than 2005 is a bit of a rarity although obviously his memory is a bit fuzzy.

the programme from our first home game against West Brom that season said it was about providing more seats, whilst ensuring the Kop remained standing room only. In 1981-2 only three games had got more than 45000 - Swansea - Toshacks return, Everton and Spurs - championship decider

The authorities and clubs themselves wanted all seater stadiums for a long time before they got them as they knew theyd be a better way of making more money.

I think Coventry, with Jimmy Hill as Chairman were one of the first to have an all seater stadium.

They eventually got their wish but under circumstances that we wish hadnt happened.

Well we had to; he was our biggest supporter.
