As for Ian Rush, great player, 346 goals. I grew up with him scoring every week for us, and he is definitely a footballing hero of mine.

The whole new girl thing doesn't sit right with me. Rushie is not the first to do it - get to middle age, have a few bob, then leave his wife for a younger woman. It's the sort of thing Brendan Rodgers did, and I didn't like that either.

What's wrong with staying with the wife of your youth, through thick and thin, and building a life together through all the stages and circumstances that come up over many years?

I don't think it's for any of us to pass judgement on someone else's marriage.

He got worse stick for having his teeth whitened and for investing in property, than cheating on/leaving his wife with a woman half her age. Again, nobody bats an eyelid.

I don't think the G has been overly harsh. I agree it's not really any of our business but most stuff we comment on on this board isn't either.

Well I'm a marriage counsellor, so I do it on a daily basis as a matter of course...

I'm doing like one of them marriage counselors. Charge by the hour to tell some fool he need to bring some flowers home. Then charge another hour telling the bitch she oughta suck some cock every little once in a while - Proposition Joe, The Wire

That's fair, as ultimately we don't know the details of anything, other than what has generally been presented in public.

Going by what we know (common story of middle aged man having an affair and then leaving wife for younger woman) then I think it is in bounds for me to say it doesn't sit right with me.

I certainly haven't slagged Rushie off, and was also careful to say he was, and is, a footballing hero of mine. I would also add that the context of my comment is that it was made on a forum (not just FF, but taking the whole place into account) where participants routinely pass judgement on all manner of things.

I absolutely don't have it in for Rushie. Still looks fit as a butcher's dog to me, and I'd half consider registering him for the run in, as he still knows where the net is and it might give others a little breather!
