When are we likely to get definitive stadium news?

Someone on the Anfield development thread on skyscrapercity has said that the club have applied to move the fanzone from behind the Anfield Road end to a small corner next to the path into the park.

Also Liverpool are looking towards a capacity of 62,000 rather than the 58,500 that was initially mooted. He expects a planning application to be submitted in the next three months.

Hmmm. Id love us to go to 62000 but why stop there and not go to 65000? 70 would be great but Im not certain 5000 extra seats would have a good view way back near the park, the players might look like ants.

Even so havent the council stated 60k and above LFC have to pay for road infrastructure not to mention restoring a rail link as part and parcel of the larger capacity? (By the way, are the shite contributing to infrastructure costs seeing as ahem, roads in that area are a bit iffy?)

I really think the guy is blowing smoke saying an increase to 62k is on the cards but we live in hope.

It does seem a bit convenient after Everton's stadium announcement. I believe that the actual figure for the infrastructure costs is 68,000. It's been mentioned on there a few times.

Even now though it's a nightmare to get away from Anfield so if it went up to 62 or 63,000 it would be a nightmare. Aren't they axing the Soccerbus as well?.

Problem with a new rail line is that it could cost 300m to build and it would be on.a freight line which will be busier due to the dock expansion.

Even after the friendly game at the weekend it was a nightmare getting from the main stand to Walton Breck rd. Throwing more fans in will require a whole team of people directing the flow outwards. Some more open space will be required too. (Knock down the Albert?)

They've already been doing a few things in that area. I don't believe we'll suddenly go for a 62k ground when only a couple of months ago they couldn't be arsed with 59k. It's just distraction bullshit like the blues always used to leak when we had stadium news.

That condition about the railway was always going to block any expansion of the Anfield Road End.

Soccerbus is being "reviewed" because it costs Council Tax payers a fair bit, while the clubs who benefit from it don't pay a penny for it. Hopefully, the threat to withdraw it will get the tight bastards from both sides of the park to put their hands in their pockets.

More importantly are any future expansions at Anfield  going to be guaranteed by the Council funding wise. They can get us a nice loan and we can pay on the never never.

Maybe they can buy Kirkby for us,do it up and rent it back to us for a pittance.

Can't see any club ever getting that sort of preferential treatment can you.

There is an artical somewhere on The Echo saying that even before the EFC stadium plans, LCC had put aside a large amout of money to improve infrastructure. there is also another artical showing what the new loop line would look like but that is just ideas at the moment...however, there is nothing to say the club would spend any money towards it.

The new loop line story was a non story.

All it was, was a story that had been printed showing a plan of how a new loop line could look and where it would likely go.

The plans were drawn up by a designer from the Wirral. It was in no way official nothing more than someone on here drawing a few lines on a map of the city and saying this is how a new loop line could look.

Absolute nothing article in the echo.
