Was at Bayern in the summer and there’s security at each section scanning your ticket. It works quite well too

I dare say it does at Bayern. But in Germany you can have a beer watching the game here you cannot. I am not saying the idea of a walkaround concourse does not work just that it introduced other problems and delays.

At the 89 cup final at Wembley which also had a walk around concourse I had to get a drink at half time because it was boiling. The cops would not let me back in my section when the 2nd half started because they said it was full even though I showed them my ticket. Had to scramble into another section instead so clearly people can beat the system.

I do not think the Metropolitans finest gave two hoots about full sections. They told me to go to the other end of the stadium and try and get in Evertons end.

The days when red and blues went to games together and had a great day. Blues sorting out red mates with tickets, reds helping blues to bunk in etc. Different days. Tougher yes but better.

Liverpool will reportedly extend Anfield by a further 6,100 seats, taking the capacity beyond 60,000.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Mike Keegan reports that Liverpool have sped up plans to extend the Anfield Road End after the success of the Main Stand

Those developments will include adding an extra tier to the current stand to make it the same height as the recently developed area of the ground, a move that would not require any major work around the ground.

Anfield is currently the fourth largest ground in the Premier League, and will remain so when Tottenham move from Wembley to their new White Hart Lane stadium.

Keegan writes that the new development would add at least 6,000 extra seats, but could do as many as 8,000. That would make Anfield the third biggest club ground in England.

Liverpool’s reasoning is commercial revenue. The Main Stand generated £12m extra revenue in its first season, taking matchday revenue to £74m

Not sure that the writer has understood what we are looking to do. What he's written sounds like something we might have done under Moores and Parry. Adding another tier above the existing upper tier will mean those in that new upper tier will have a VERY compromised view of the pitch nearest to them because that new upper tier couldn't be built steep enough to overcome the issue. The existing upper tier also already overhangs the lower tier considerably, requiring supporting pillars and giving those in the lower tier a really shit view.

The previous outline plans involved reprofiling the existing lower tier and building a brand new upper tier set further back than the current overhanging one, so the stand is still 2 tiers rather than 3. The road would be closed off at either end, and the away fans would be shifted to the other side by the King Kenny, much closer to their coaches in the car park. I think that's the idea the club are looking at inplementing.

The current capacity is 54,074 isn't it?

No, not really - not in actual usage terms.

When you factor in the divider for away fans it actually tops at somewhere around 53,300 odd...if you look at our crowds we have never had a 54,000...never had more than 53,300 odd.

Same as when capacity was '45,300 odd' we never actually had a crowd of over say 44,700 or so.

To get a crowd of over 60,000 we would need to add more than 6,000 seats.

Here are our crowds:

Yeah no way could you just whack another tier on anny road...the top tier now is shite anyway and really shallow as well as being propped up by pillars in bottom - after it moved when Celtic came for Ronnie Moran's game.

The whole end is a shambles and has been ever since they started redoing it in the 90's....whole thing needs doing properly.

The views at the back of the lower are a joke...like watching game through a letter box. As you say the overhang is terrible...done on the cheap wasn't it.

The supports that cross over between the main and it as well in that corner are awful lumps of metal tangled all over the place.

Get it redone and properly.

Mike Keegan has not got a clue. It has already been said the club is looking at various designs. The current top tier will be taken off not least because it moves and causes restricted views both in the ARE and Main stand wing where the ARE roof support truss is stopping the club selling seats. The current lower tier will either be left as it is or extended to the same height as the Main Stand lower and reprofiled. Although the club have previously questioned the payback on corporate hospitality I think they will put boxes in as a break then a far larger top tier similar in appearance to the Main Stand. Because of the roof supports for both the Main and KD stands they will not be able to fill in the corners so the stand will pretty much sit square to the pitch as now. The only questions are how high and far back the stand will go with resultant capacity and whether they put any boxes in or not.

See Anfield now has 3 concerts planned for next June. Take That, Pink and Bon Jovi. The first two sold out within a day and Bon Jovi will go on sale soon.

Looks like playing a concert at Anfield is a big draw for artist. The club has a licence for 3 more concerts in June/July 2019. Eddie Hearn also hinted recently that Callum Smith could fight at Anfield.

Doesn't outline planning permission for the Anfield Road end expire in September 2019?
