Arsenal are probably the best example of where Everton would be had they been run properly. In the late eighties, both had pretty good teams, similar stadiums and recent league success. One of those clubs decided to sell its best players and blame a lack of European football, lurching from one short term managerial choice to another, while their ground got older and older. The other recruited wisely - particularly in their managerial choice - and invested in their stadium despite being in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

I sincerely hope that the likes of Brighton go from strength to strength as well, giving a lie to their deluded claim that they're being held back in some way by the 'Sky 6' whatever the fuck that means.

Down with this common sense lark.

Actually, you're missing another Everton first; first team on Merseyside to buy up a street and knock down the houses when they extended the Gladys Street end in the 1930s.

Yes but in the mind of an Evertonian that simply never happened.

Just like when der redshite didn't actually furlough their staff but Everton took the Covid business interruption loan as well as scabbing money from skint councils as well as getting them to pay for a training ground.

They call Liverpool tories but their owner is a tax avoiding tory donor who employed a tory loving manager.

I disagree. Arsenal are still the biggest club in London. Everton have never been "big" and any thought of them being "big" is a myth. They happened to have a boss side in the 80's and had earned their spot in the breakaway PL 8 but they very quickly went back to where they belonged. Fighting relegation and crying about us.

Celtic and r*ngers are "bigger" than Everton. I'd also say Spurs, Villa and West Ham are. West Ham borderline.

At the time though, Arsenal and Everton were probably about the same size, regardless of comparisons with other sides. Arsenal might have been the biggest club in London, but there was hardly much competition was there? Spurs were Spurs, West Ham were in the second division and Chelsea had just had a spell there. My point was, they were both - briefly - on the same path before one decided to fuck everything up and blame us for it.

West Ham have more European trophies.

Everton were one of the bigger clubs in the division when it was founded up until the 1930s. They could probably say they were a bigger club than us as Anfield was a shithole and they had a bigger stadium. Even Bill Shankly said that Anfield was a dump.

They had still only won the same amount of league titles as us but they like to peddle the myth that we were absolutely nothing before 1959.

Since WW2 they've only won 8 trophies and we've won 15 since they last won anything. 15 is the total number of trophies they've won in their entire history. They've only had a couple of good seasons in the 60s and then the 80s but they think they are massive and on a par with us and the Mancs.

Their Heysel, powers that be and Sky 6 conspiracy theories are comfort blankets for them to excuse being shite. They just constantly live in the past, moan, obsess over trivial and pointless shit and let Liverpool FC burn their fucking minds out to the point that it affects their ability to be objective. It seems that they are more arsed about hating us because they believe that it makes them bigger Evertonians.

Players ive never heard of are turning them down to join other second/third rate teams, but yeah De Gea and Zaha are gonna lap that shit up on a free when they get offered 50k p/w with a 250k signing bonus. This lot really are absolutely mental.

According to the Grauniads "transfer interactive", 11 players have left, 0 joined. They're getting knocked back by nonentities.

They're not going to win this transfer window are they.

If it means they win the finishing in the bottom 3 race good for them.

It says a lot about their other Centre Backs that they're all nervous about losing him.

Most of his colleagues will be too, as he is probably their only chance of fighting their way out of the players car park if they lose their first couple of home games.

Yes but we normally play up to 60 games per season, they only play 40 so he may have played fewer games but he has also missed fewer.

Kenwright hanging round like a bad smell is out of order to be fair. Funny like but if this is their last season at Goodison they should be starting the season on a high instead it will be bedsheets, dogs passed around and headlocks Ric Flair could only dream of.

So come on come on, get down to Goodison park....

Last season my arse. They’ll be there for a while yet. Celebrate their pearl anniversary there at least.

Rumours are they can't afford the rent on Goodison after the end of the season now it's owned by Russia so they might have to play at Prenton Park while slave arena sits vacant waiting for bills to be paid. Not saying that's absolute fact but I heard it off an Uber driver from Romania who supported Liverpool lad. Klopp sets fireworks off near dog shelters in his bills. Oh that was a different cabbie sorry.
