Did anyone see this story from a few weeks ago?

http://thedoglover.net/2017/11/05/bridesmaids-ditch-the-flowers-and-carry-rescue-puppies-down-aisle-instead-to-help-them-find-homes/

A dog shelter in Iowa has taken in 100 dogs left displaced by the Hurricane in Texas.  To help promote the shelter and try to find homes for the dogs, a local bride decided to carry puppies instead of flowers at her wedding.  (The groom decided against pinning a puppy to his lapel.)

Some of the dogs have already found homes as a result.

Guest Pistonbroke

I tend to say that at weddings anyway.

Hahaha, especially the older we get. I was at a wedding this summer, Wife's cousins son. Most of the guests were semi-professional swimmers and in their mid-to late 20's.

Dog People.

Help a bugger out.

The Mrs says she is getting a puppy this week. Bernese-Pyrenees mix.

Supposed to be nice dogs, but big and great shedders.

Need a crash course in stuff I need to buy as she will dogs over the thing and I will be the one who had to make all the sensible decisions and purchases.

What’s better for training - 4 foot leash or 6 foot?

Best kind of dog bed?

Essentials I need to get.

Starting from zero here.

Keep it cheap until you’ve got an idea of what size he’ll turn out. Get some training and socialisation classes in as early as you can. Otherwise, just enjoy

The breeder should advise what food you will need,as I would imagine this type of pup will be growing fairly rapidly and they will need the right things for bone and joint development etc.

Dog bed,may as well get a big one.The last one I got was a sort of giant bean bag.

Essentials: Bowls for food and water.A good strong collar or harness and a chain link lead.I Don't like the nylon or bungee style ones.

Concentrate on the SIT,STAY,HEEL,DOWN,COME and NO commands,Thats all I ever taught my old boy Rafa.(not that he took much notice!)

Get the best insurance policy you can afford .Vets aren't cheap and you will need them at some point.

You might consider getting a dog crate to contain the pup for awhile, also pads for any little accidents around the home.

Make sure your outside are is secure.

Oh and as they look like heavy shredders,a strong vacum cleaner!

All this is making me want to start looking for my next doggie!

Cycling back from work tonight and just as I’m almost home a fucking dog runs out straight in front of me. I managed to not cripple myself or it but it then started to chase the bike and follow me home.

I dumped the bike and then walked the dog up and down the road trying to find the house/garden it escaped from but with no luck.

I now have a beagle puppy going apeshit here and Milo looking at me as if to say “who’s this fucker you’re giving my biscuits too’?

Dog warden line doesn’t open till 9 so my lie in on lates is out the window and this gorgeous little fucker doesn’t look like settling any time soon.
