Can't understand why goalies don't shake it up occasionally by faking a dive and staying central, particularly with players who are not likely to belt them, like Torres. Even if it doesn't work it gives the subsequent takers an additional thing to take into account.

When did Torres & Griezmann swap hair ?

I spoke to a few Keepers about the same thing, they said if you stand still until contact is made you hardly save any, well not against good players.

Bayern came out to play against us and we showed what we can do.

A.Madrid sat back and we showed what we cant do.

A lot of teams would struggle against them to be fair. But doesn't change the fact we need to be better at not dropping points against teams that park the bus.

They might be right but seems to be quite a high proportion of penalties going right down the middle between knee & throat height.

Good players are capable of choosing a direction once they see the keeper move, hence why many just hit it down the middle, especially when the keeper is diving before they hit the ball. If the keeper doesn't move they'll just hit one of the corners, unless they are called Jordan.

Atletico are desperate to be a PL bottom half club.

Really frustrating to play against a team that hacks and pulls at you while simultaneously going to ground at every opportunity.

There's gamesmanship then there's this in a pre-season friendly.

I wouldn't mind so much if the referee called them out for their shite.

Grujic got some nice comments in this thread and i totally agree. Looks great with both feet too, which is a massive bonus. This could be his break out season. Its going to be really interesting to see what his best position is for us, but in a fluid system with Klopp as manager, he has a great chance. I think he might have been Klopps first signing, and what a signing it could prove to be!

Im excited by him, Solanke, Woodburn and Trent. We look in a healthy position with emerging young talent.

No time to recover if you fake a dive. The best policy is always to leave diving to the last moment possible while having done some homework on penalty takers before you play the match. There are one or two generalisations you can make based on it being a left footed player or right footed and the shape of their run up.

I think Athletic defensively are brilliant!

They are playing within their means and doing it exceptionally well. Simeone is an absolute cunt and destined for United. But, i'm not criticising them for their style - especially when it is done so well.

I was impressed with Grujic and Kent last night - both are exactly what we need this year.

Athletico were never living in their means before a few years back. Dont know if thet are or not. They were getting the likes of Falcao on dodgy deals only owning a small percentage of the players right. Hence they made nothing selling the players on

We weren't playing Bilbao mate.

In before Jairzinho on the pedantry.

Firmino played well.. goes to show that he's a much better AM than he is a striker. He should only ever start for us behind a striker, as we can't afford to carry a striker with only 10-11 goals a season.

He played better the night before, as a striker, against a better side.

Atletico are a Gestifute partner club these days. Mendes needs a club that's just outside the European elite but goes far in the CL every year so he can punt its best players onto the very richest clubs - Chelsea, Mancs, Chinese clubs - for insane fees.

You forgot wolves!

Grujic looks extremely raw. Talented potential but some way off the first team I imagine.

Reminds me of Shelvey so much.

No way! Grujic is already ten times the player Shelvey ever was. Terrible comparison, let's set our standards much higher than Uncle Festa's love child from his affair with Nosferatu.

Really like Grujic.

Quick thinking, quick feet, vision, physical, good in the air, always prefers to drive into a space than go back.  This is a player.  If I wasn't 38 I'd put his name on a shirt.
