Standard of managers across the top English sides is far stronger than 2 or 3 years ago (when Mourinho aside -- who had a bit of a rebuilding job on his hands at Chelsea -- it was pretty poor right across the crop)  -- and it shows in the greater consistency of results and building of squads. Klopp, Guardiola, Mourinho, Conte -- all managers with European pedigree, and the way Pochettino has gone about building Spurs he looks top draw too. Premier league without doubt in the ascendancy again as in the early to mid 2000s -- especially so as the careers of Messi, Ronaldo and some of the other older world class continental players wind down. Klopp & Pochettino on a hiding to nothing trying to compete with the others here in the long-term given the chasm in finances though.

Klopp, albeit the exponent par excellence of an attractive, attacking brand of football--- is too naive for me to be considered yet in the same class as those others mentioned above. If he fixes our defensive and  goal keeping problem, he has the opportunity to be regarded in the same company, even excel. But my worry is Klopp's very philosophy of a footballing defense being an overall team effort rather than a specific issue requiring his attention. I don't know if he's thinking "total football" here but it's a problem threatening to undo our season if not addressed sooner than later.
