Is it bearable for a one night stop over ? 

 

Off to nerja at easter and couldn't get anything decent in malaga city for the night so provisionally booked Fuengirola as it's easy to get to from the airport 

 

Anyone know the place ?

I was there when I was about 14. It pissed down so I went to pub and played pool.

 

I'd say anywhere is 'bearable' for one night, and I certainly don't remember anything awful about it.

Went there when I was 5. Got heat rash and pissed in the middle of a souvenir shop.

I've been. Liked it. Nice little zoo there that's worth a visit.

There's actually a decent area in the old town with nice spanish bars and tapas restaurants.

Stay away from the pubs serving Carling and all day english breakfasts and you'll be fine for one night.

Just got back from esterpona (sp) anywhere is pretty easy to get to from the airport as it is just one motorway pretty much all the way down the coast. Morocco is also worth a visit too.

To be fair alot of those places have changed alot since I used to go as a kid(with family found a dead body once) and as a teenager a bit more up market and a lot of development has happened I was pleasantly surprised.

I had to spend a night in Morecambe once due to a cancelled ferry.

 

You can handle Fuengirola.

It's not a bad place but from memory it is the last stop on the local train from Malaga airport going the opposite way to Nerja ( About an hour to Nerja one way or about 45 mins to Fuengirola the other way ) so you might either be better biting the bullet and going straight to Nerja or cutting a bit of time off on the next day journey by looking at Torremolinos or Benalmadena.
