Flying out later today for work and it appears that the people who have arranged my trip have forgotten that Thursday is a national holiday out there, so I have a free day.

Anyone been and got suggestions for what to do? Giza and National Museum are on the list (providing they are open)

I've heard the pyramids are big and are worth checking out. And the camels have at least one hump - some have as many as two. I rode on one in Australia and they're quite uncomfortable if you decide to ride one.

Hope this helps.

So I guess none of us have been to Cairo then?

I have. Years ago though.

Pyramids and Sphinx are decent. As is Cairo museum.

A walk across the bridges on the Nice is good too. Watching the mad fuckers hanging onto packed buses. Don't be surprised to see an ad hoc bed on the pavement as the residents sometimes sleep outside on the bridge as it gets that hot.

Be prepared for smog. And not feeling too safe.

Getting on the plane but just taking a moment to call you all useless fuckers

Are you getting a bodyguard? Mate of mine was working in Alexandria & had to have a bodyguard with him every time he left the hotel. Dont make any plans, take each day as it comes & hope you're still alive on the last day. If you are. Then you have the security at the Airport to deal with when you are coming home. The most lax airport security in the World. Have a good trip.

Didn't like Cairo when I went about 10 years ago,  The museum and the pyramids are fantastic don't get me wrong but its very hot and crowded if you choose  to go inside and its almost impossible to escape beggars and people trying to scam you, On no account let anyone take your picture with your camera or phone if you intend to keep it. Missus had her bag picked and I spent about an hour on the phone getting her card cancelled

Apart from that plus the noise, traffic and general hassle it was fucking great. Tut mask was brill and you can get right up close,
