Get a read of the book on the Colonel, it's insane the control he had over him and how cold he was towards him.  He had total control over him until Elvis started to take some artistic licence back in the 68 comeback.

Also the Colonel was a wanted man back in Amsterdam as a suspect for the murder of a man, therefore Elvis barely done a gig in Europe.

Elvis trusted him far too much.  The cunt basically worked Elvis to death signing him up to do gruelling tours in the US and Vegas.  The colonel apparently spunked millions gambling in Vegas and kept Elvis tied to long contracts in Vegas so he could settle debts. I think he was had near a 50/50 share in his contract with Elvis too.  Cunt of a man.

Yep, when Elvis died apparently he showed little emotion.  As you say he worked the shit out of Elvis and because he got at when he was young Elvis had a bit of fear of him so he never challenged him until his comeback tour where he would have been 33.

Elvis is the (entertainment) King.

Saw him 'live' in 2012(??) with his backing band playing to a big screen of old concert footage. Great evenings entertainment & Graceland is/was a sight to behold. Finding out he only ate Meatloaf for 6 months as an evening meal you begin to understand why he 'filled out' a little!

Gonna have to look out for that book.

Quite amazing his physical transformation from a healthy and athletic teenager to a bloated and prescription drug dependant early middle aged man. If he'd have had some proper mentorship rather than the snake oil salesman he had,he could still have been around until very recently still making music.

My missus is a big fan so I've seen loads of stuff about his life and it seemed as though he was actually turning things around again when he died but ignored some warning signs in the weeks leading up to his death.

I'd add far to much fame for somebody to deal with aswell to him ballooning up.

Must be one of the first true world wide celebrities and dealing with that fame and it leaving you pretty much housebound can't help. Add that to a manager working you to the bone through most of your early 20s to mid 30s.

That Tom Parker was a huge cunt. He was actually a carnival con man,or similar, before he ended up managing Elvis.
