Of saturdays game.

Its possible that we will see a few changes, but not too many.

I think kenny will rest gerrard suarez and downing.

It wont be an easy game obviously but i think we will get a good result there.

I think that formation gets the most out of our players.

 

Adam and Gerrard are definitely better in 3 man midfields.

 

Suarez movement means he'll get in to support Carroll. Gerrard will get around Carroll for knockdowns and we'll ahve cover behind him in Lucas.

Should be a good game, expect Stoke to field a strong side as they got the final last season so clearly take this serious. I'm not 100% confident but I think we could go through in extra time, I hope Spearing and Carroll start.

Yes, I've entered into 5-3-2 territory.

I don't think we're strong enough to field a 4 at the back at the moment. It also gives Coates a chance to play some football and not have the pressure of being one of only two at the back.

It plays perfectly to Johnson and Enrique's strengths, gives us natural width, and the likes of Henderson, Adam and Gerrard are that intelligent that they can go wherever in the middle of the field, just fill in gaps and support.

Dropping Suarez, Reina, Henderson, Carragher is new territory, but our bench looks fucking scary. Add Spearing, Maxi, and Sterling/Suso/Coady/Flanno/Morgan and we've got a winner.

I'm not adverse to the idea of 5-3-2 away from home. I thin Kenny used it to quite good effect at times last season and I agree on the point that it helps ease Coates into the side. I do think, however, that Carroll will be very isolated at times. Though, perhaps, if carra wasn't part of the back 5, we would be playing a higher line and so it wouldn't be so much of an issue.
