Both have a far bigger global fanbase. If they came to the premier league they would overtake Villa in 2 seasons at most and Villa wouldn't get near them again. They're suffering from the league they're in.

If they came to the Premier League they would quickly find themselves in the Championship and would be lucky to stay there.

If you're going on the basis of 'there's loads of Scots and Irish in other countries then they must have a huge global following' then that's a bit flawed.

There is a Celtic pub in every city in the States - 95% of the time it is the Liverpool pub. Almost never does anyone watch Celtic.

They are in the same boat as River Plate and Boca worldwide.

That's a good point actually. Irish diaspora an all that.

Villa are only big because they play in a league which is watched mlby millions of people.

By that argument Norwich and brentford are huge clubs.

FFS - Villa have won the league many times - domestic Cups and the big daddy. They are one of the historical pillars of English football. It is one thing laughing at them now - something entirely different to being completely blinkered about it.

They last won the league40 years ago.

I think the whole big club argument is quite subjective tbh but personally I'd say both rangers and Celtic are bigger clubs than villa.
