He was behind Xavi and couldn't get a game. He had a release clause that kicked in if he didn't play a certain amount of games, hence the cheap fee.

It's not something I've ever read, luckily o don't read Reddy often because she's shite. I assume no one has ever actually turned that phrase, right? Sounds truly Dickensian. Metronome is a fairly common term, its not really unusual - however it shouldn't distract from the point that yes she truly is a mediocre writer/analyst.
