Looking at some of them I think you're right.

 

Tracks like Tainted Love and Sweet Dreams are fucking iconic of the time. The 80s produced some really ordinary singers as well as some great ones but it wasn't necessarily about that. They were creating genres, not trying to win Pop Idol.

I like his cover of Tainted Love but it’s not a patch on the original. He added nothing to Something’s Gotten Hold of My Heart.
