If Ward wins the the starting job sending Karius back to Germany for a year on loan and bringing Forster in on the cheap would not be that bad a idea. He has looked good at times though went to shit last year. But not easy to find a great number 2

Same club but McCarthy would be my choice. Definitely.

 

Said it before but I'd clean out both Karius and Mig and replace them with Nick Pope and McCarthy. A huge improvement and also presents far more value than the dubious Alisson.

If we're going to go English, Tom Heaton isn't a bad shout and would be a decent stop gap for now. My choice would be Handanovic from Inter Milan though. Wanted him here when Reina left. Instead we ended up with Mignolet. Could be a bit more difficult to prize him away from Inter now though. What with them qualifying for the CL themselves. Seems very settled there as well.

I reckon McCarthy is potentially a very good keeper, but, yeah, unless we’re signing guaranteed quality I don’t really see the point.

Said last summer that Pickford is the only English keeper worth going for. Pointless going English now. The only two other keepers outside the top six clubs worthy of a mention are Schmeichel and Matt Ryan, but we could probably find cheaper elsewhere.
