Another defeat in the courts today, after the High Court rules that the benefits cap is discriminatory against single parents with children under 2 years of age, as they have no realistic chance of satisfying the requirement of working 16 hours or more to avoid the cap applying to them.

 

The High Court judge also remarked that the policy is plunging people, including children, into poverty for no good reason.

 

The government have been granted leave to appeal the judgement and will do so.

Usually because you voted for a party who have made charities pay for essential services the same party has starved of funds.

I have this argument with Charity sellers quite often, especially ones to do with Armed Forces. Basically my view is by donating to these charities you're giving the government a free pass to skip their obligations, which we've usually paid through our taxes anyway.

I wouldnt stop donating to charities BUT its becoming very difdicult to distinguish between genuine and not so genuine due to the flood of them. Caused by tory governments mostly.
