John Bishop has been knocking around for years as a moderately affable stand up. But his propulsion into Saturday night stardom is baffling in the extreme. Saw a clip of him in Dublin about ten years ago where he was just talking about footy, literally just bar room banter type stuff and the crowd were in stitches. Like McGuinness, I susoect most of his comic appeal relates to the accent.
