From what I can gather he sounds like solid back up to an already talented midfield.  He'll have to be some player to find a regular starting spot.  Hopefully he will.

Anyone else think Lucas will be sold? This could be the player that leads to it happening, maybe. I still like him because he can be a great player on his game, but he looked really out of place at the end of last season.

I think Lucas will be kept for squad depth.  I think when we had Henderson out Rodgers realised he didn't entirely like playing a combination of Lucas, Allen or Coutinho ahead of Gerrard.  Lucas and Allen didn't offer enough energy and creativitiy and Allen and Coutinho was a bit lightweight.

 

Lucas can play the deeper midfield role ok, but obviously in a different manner to Gerrard.

 

I think Can is seen as being able to bring more energy and strength if needed for one of the two midfield roles ahead of Gerrard, whilst also hopefully developing into playing the deeper role too.

Could be the case, just think Can might have been bought as a replacement type for Lucas, and maybe with a view to Gerrard retiring in the near future as well? Would be fine with Lucas staying too, just can't see him getting hardly any games, and he might even be wondering about moving on himself.

This guys a dark horse, i've been reading his interviews since signing and he's extremely measured and confident, he seems very serious and dedicated to his improvement as a player and prepared to work hard to get there, always a good sign.

Not as a regular, but if it's true that we've switched targets from Moreno to Bertrand, then it might not be a bad idea to give him a go there.

There's an age group growing within the club that allows for the squad to develop together but even more importantly, the manager is at an age that allows him to grow with the squad as well.
