If we signed Coates and another then Skrtel must be surplus.

Not really. We all know that agger will break down within a few more games and then be out for ages. Coates could need a good couple of years of development still which still leaves us carra, skrtel and maybe cahill as regular fit and ready defenders.

Would be a great great buy this. If Coates would leave to Spain or Portugal, he'd be worth around 20m£ in 2-3 seasons. Easy.

Only worry is that he might be a bit 'slow', but so was Hyypia? Comfortable on the ball, likes to play the ball on the floor. Ace!

Doesn't look slow to me. Seems to have as much pace as Agger.

Which is not very much

It's plenty, especially when you have that extra leg reach. Judging from videos, and the Copa America, he has no issues with pace. More important is positioning.

Bullshit. Martin will be our 2nd-3rd choice this season.

If we buy Coates, Skrtel will be our 4th choice. If we buy Cahill, Skrtel be our fourth choice. The central defence is working well, and I highly doubt Dalglish will want to change that on a whim. If he buys a player like Coates or Cahil, he'll likely want to play them.

What the gibbering hell are you on about?

I fink 'e finks Coates is an attacking thullback.

I very much doubt coates will go straight into the side, at whose expense?

Maybe not straight in as a starter in his first game here, but surely he'll be buying him to actually play a role in the first team. It's pretty clear he's looking for more height and aerial dominance back there, what with our connection to Dann, Cahill and Coates, so it's my guess that he'll be a regular pretty soon.

I guess we'll see soon enough!

I like Skrtel, too. However, at the moment, he is behind Carra and Agger and I see Coates as a top class prospect; so I think he'll slot straight ahead of him in the pecking order.

Bid confusion: I've spoken to Nacional. There is an offer on the table from #LFC, but it has not been accepted yet. "Under consideration".

I very much dislike Rory Smith.

Speed is overrated for centrebacks. It is much more important to read the game well, position well and be clever about when to make tackles.

All of what you say reading the game and positional awareness are what i would expect of every CB in the prem but i think your wrong regarding pace being over-rated its most important if you wish to play a high line pressing the opposition in there own half

The ability to recover the ground from your own halfway line to the box is parramount in that instance especially in todays game where the forwards and wingers are not far short of olyimpic standard

I think KK wants to play the high line defense but we dont have the players to accomodate the tactic at the moment

For two long our CB's have provided minimal goal threat to the opposition from our set peices, so i would say that Pace and Arial dominance are the two requirments that KK is looking for in new CB's for the club.

I can see KK signing the south american and Arsenal and Liverpool picking up one each of Dann or Cahill on a pre contract in Jan

I cant see Carra next season at 35 leading the Liverpool defensive line if im honest infact i can see only the Keeper being a certain starter for us from the Rafa days
