I thought Cruise was great in it. One of the few time's I found him watchable.

 

Edit - I liked the film a a whole as well, although it was a bit crazy (possibly pretentious) at time's.

I watched this again the other night and enjoyed it. Great soundtrack and great performances all-around with the exception, IMO, of Tom Cruise who I thought stunk the movie out, in particular of his 'crying' scene at Jason Robards bedside.

However, I would say that as I can't stand the wee, over-hyped, spaceman-worshipping cunt.

I just watched the "supposed" re-make of this film and they've improved it considerably. The decision to go animated can't have been an easy one to make but I think they've carried it off superbly. Pete, it's quite clearly about a Panda that learns kung-fu; pay more attention dumbass.

I thought 'Magnolia' was ok: linking up seemingly disparate characters' lives is difficult in a movie. 'Crash', I thought, had a similar problem with the series of coincidences we were asked to accept to reach the denouement. But that's the movies for you - mostly shite and Hollywood bollocks. The soundtrack of 'Magnolia' is quite good, mostly stuff by Aimee Mann. I also disagree with Sammy Aftershave's description of Tom Cruise as a "wee, overhyped, spaceman worshipping cunt". I know Mr Aftershave and he is merely allowing his own anger at being kicked out of the Scientologist Movement to cloud his judgement. If he had seen Mr Cruise's performance as the midget in 'In Bruges' I'm sure Sammy would be willing to revise his opinion.

I think this is an amazing film. I absolutely loved it. Pretentious at times. But thats what i like about it. I thought Aimee Mann's soundtrack was amazing and had me engrossed for the duration. A bit slow in parts but overall i thought it was a wonderful work of art.

As for Tom Cruise - again i thought he was boss. I like all his films. Its strange really cos he seems to be a cunt in real life.
