Early Cheltenham 2018 thread

My fortunes summed up in the last race where the horse I backed was put down.

Just seen an article about this.

Broken leg on the flat. Tried to keep on running on 3 legs. The shoe was near the horses head at one point as the leg appeared to bend upwards after the break.

I do love the racing, but it was an horrific and very off putting injury.

Poor little horsey.

Just about even over the festival but have enjoyed all of the coverage & the highs and lows over the days, as it is the first time in about 30 years that I have not been working or had the Mrs bugging me and could just immerse myself in it.

Had to laugh at Jair's earlier comments as I fell foul of that , whereas with football etc. I usually work to a system, but with Cheltenham I just kept throwing random bets on from guys on here's tips , or from my daily paper or from lads in the pub. Got that silly that I ended up in the first race today with 5 of the first 6 in the betting in various accumulators.

I would be interested in this system.

As my football system is, bet with the heart, get heart broken, repeat.

I had the Samcro/Presenting Percy/Altior treble, and a very lucky, speculative e/w L15 of the first day, so I am up. And therefore, can't grumble.

The problem with Cheltenham is that it's very difficult to be selective. We want a bet on most races. Even yourself, who didn't, still had nine bets from 28 races. It's much easier to flick through the cards on a Tuesday evening and see that your options are some class six shite at Lingfield, and some garbage at Dundalk, and decide to maybe have one single or nothing.

Didnt bet on anything on the Wednesday as was out all day. I had the Bet 365 offer so I used that on the big races on the other days so all in all I guess I lost about 70 quid which is not the end of the world. Was just pissed I drew a complete blank. Of course once you're using a free bet you end up seeing a few others you like the look of and get suckered in . Cheltenham rarely good for me and tend to better at Aintree, Well done coming out the right side,.

Will know at the end of the week what I'm up after all my withdrawals are in. I had £230 in footy bets come in which have helped.

What I do know is that I had hundreds of pounds of free bets and risk free bets and I didn't lay a single one. Only 1 of them was a winner, you just know if I'd been laying them off at least half of them would have won.

Cunts.

Not particularly exciting , Lario , I just use the ' Betting Boys ' tips in the Daily Mirror on Saturday morning. They give an acca , 4 aways . 6 homes and 3 draws every week , and I put a fiver on each ( £20 in all ). They are pretty good and it is unusual to not get at least one up or very close at least.

Today I had the option to cash out for £120 on the three draws but couldn't make my mind up and Plymouth scored in the 85th minute and last week was heartbreaking with Sunderland costing me £185 on the 4 aways by scoring against Middlesborough in the 96th minute.

Like you I also do random stuff that seem good ideas at the time.

Similar here mate. I only had a few quid and had so little luck I just backed things and was out of money by Thurday night. I was disciplined with my missus account and made her £70 from just one free bet per day. I really should have just traded the festival instead as matched betting always empties my exchange account very quickly.
