One thing you might find worthwhile buying are some 'Armadillo' or kevlar type tyres. If you are cycling on iffy roads then it's worth the money. You might notice a slight reduction in speed, but nothing major.

My other half has that Bianchi and changed the tyres for a100k charity ride, and she said there wasn't much difference in speed.

I use CycleMeter, the brother-in-law uses mapmyrun/mapmycycle.

There's another one called Strava that seems fairly popular. I didn't go for that, as it kinda syncs with the webpage and other can see your route/times/etc. Not at a level where I want people to be seeing what I'm doing!

As for the apps, some of them might be paid apps. My phone is jailbroken, so I haven't paid for any of them!

Music on the iphone....

Open iTunes

Create a playlist (Ctrl N I think)

Call it iPhone Sync (or whatever)

Drag whatever music you want from your library into that playlist.

Attach your phone.

Highlight it on the left.

On the right, go into the Music tab (I think).

The options in there then ask you what you want to do. Select to sync playlists, and select your iPhone sync playlist.

Sync your phone.

All the music is then on your phone.

You could do that to transfer everything, and setup a numerous playlists for cycling/walking/whatever. All playlists will be on your phone (the music won't be doubled up!), and you can then choose what you want to listen to at the time.

P.S. If you're bringing your phone/ipod in your pocket, thrown it into a sandwich bag or something. Any bit of sweat/rain could fuck it up bigtime.

Downloaded this mate, free app and very good reviews.

We'll see how it goes.

The other day an older bloke almost crashed into me because he was looking at his iPad. He had a fucking iPad mounted on his bike. Judging by his level of distraction I reckon he must have been browsing porn as well.

Mrs Armitage on Wheels, I tell yer. Google it. 'What this bike really needs...'

Just back in from a bike ride. Blue sky, sun shining, break a bit of sweat (in my cycling dreams I am Victoria Pendleton, without the issues). Really enjoying it

Well, I ended up getting the Specialized Sirrus Elite 2012 Hybrid Bike | Evans Cycles in the end and got the £50 for my old bike as well. Since then i've been out on it every day and have noticed the difference speed wise. Bought a cheap as chips cycle computer from Aldi which actually works, gives you a speedo and miles covered, then an average speed and calories burned total at the end of the ride. Did a 20 mile run with a 360 ft elevation yesterday which was amazing. I weigh 14 and a half stone and am aiming for a loss of two stone by Xmas. Eating sensibly and doing a bit of weight training as well combined with the daily bike rides should see this come to fruition.

Absolutely loving this bike though, it's really nimble and a joy to ride.

Are there any bike shops that allow you to pay off anymore?

Quinns on Edge land will allow you to pay of any bike in instalments. You just pay off however much you can afford each month, week or whatever and then when you have paid for the bike you can take it. It is a bitch as you can't just ride the bike out but if you can't afford finance and you want a bike it is ideal. It also allows you to get a top bike that you wouldn't have been able to afford anyway. Quinns on Edge Lane is the best bike shop in Liverpool.

I've just started a high protein diet since coming off an illness and I feel great. I don't really aim for a certain weight, I'm about 5ft 10 and got to around 15 and a half stone but its more about how I look and feel.

I snack on raisins, almonds and walnuts and eat a main meal of chicken and vegetable rice each evening and eat as many bananas, apples etc that I can each day. Omelettes are good too.

So far so good.

I haven't got a bike so jogging and a static bike are the best I can do.

You on the other hand should drop weight faster than Sherry drops kids so will lose weight in double quick time!

Have they got a website?

Here is the website Mountain bikes. Bike Shop Liverpool. Specialized bikes. BMX bikes

but you are best going down as the website isn't up to date, and you will find they price match Evans cycles. The offers that Evans cycles does are done by Quinns as well, but no one in the shop knows how to update the website so it is not very accurate. They are the best shop in Liverpool though, and they are just facing the old Marconi factory.
