I want to get forum runner, but then I keep hearing you lot moaning about it.

Anyone care to give me the negatives and positives? What's the difference to what I'm looking at here on a normal laptop?

Forum runner looks like this

I hardly use forum runner because there's always 'parse errors' when trying to view the multi-page threads, it's probably a built in safety feature to prevent eye aids but I don't think you can catch it twice so I just use the safari browser.

I haven't got an ipad but I do have an iphone. I read that Airvideo is a great app and i've just given it a go on my iphone. All I can say, is if it works as well with the ipad then it's a must have!

It converts your downloaded movies on the fly and plays them back with ease, it really is phenomenal.

This is the deal breaker for me for getting an ipad I think and I also now want an Apple TV! Hurry up bonus time!

You can stop this happening by getting forum to open up at the first page of each thread. You can then go to last page, and if you get a parse error, select the page before it. Still a bit of a nuisance though, but at least it won't stop you accessing the thread altogether, which is what happens when you use the 'go to first unread post' option.

As for what size you want to get, I guess it depends on what you want to use it for. Personally I don't store much content on mine, most gets streamed from my server, but if you want to use it for having songs etc on, then you will need one with a bigger storage. I agree with Stringy, unless you use it on the road, where you know there is no Wi-Fi, then go with Wi-Fi only option, suits most people perfectly, since you most likely will be using it mainly at home.

Mines been to the US, Asia and all over Europe. It's not 3G, just the wifi, and I've never had connectivity issues with it. If I need to use a device while on the move, I've got a phone for that. Buggered if I was going to pay another 100 quid and the cost of a contract just for the iPad.

Couldn't wait so bought an ipad 2 today. I'm off to India with work in a few weeks so need something to keep me entertained in the hotel room.

Love it so far! Air Video is boss. Also bought an Apple TV so looking forward to setting that up and mirroring the ipad.

Is air video tht thing where you can put your dvd's on your iPad? If so, how's it work? If not, which is, and how's it work?

Well for me it works like this: download a movie, save it in my D drive. Download the Air Video server and set it up to look at the D drive.

Download and install the Air Video app on the ipad. Launch it, select the server (name of my laptop), and find the movie in the D drive. Click play, and it streams absolutely seamlessly, wirelessly.

Awesome.

Once I set up the Apple TV, i can do as stated above but watch the movie on the 40 inch telly rather than the ipad.

Poifect.
