  1. Yeah as I say, I get it, I would just try to limit any rotation as much as possible. So maybe every 4 games or something. I don’t want to have it most weeks where there’s a change to the pairing.
  2. Fucking hell i’d totally forgotten about the rain until you just mentioned it! Was generally a nice day wasn’t it but there were some huge downpours.
  3. Overall it was a moody atmosphere that day, I didn’t like that. Kiev and Madrid were much better.
  4. My favourite part of that day was being in Syntagma Square when a load of Milan fans were coming out from the Metro station underneath. You could hear them coming, singing their songs, getting louder as they approached. And then they emerged from the tunnel into the square which was fucking rammed full of our fans and they instantly stopped singing and put their heads down and got out of dodge asap, it was boss.
  5. They all buzzed off YNWA at the beginning as well, it was good to see.

PODCAST: Leeds 0 Liverpool 3 - Match Reaction

Haha. Get me and Monty on a pod to discuss Naby, immediately.
  7. Not sure i’d be looking to regularly rotate the centre halves. It’s fine to do it occasionally but it’s an area of the pitch where consistency of partnership is important. I know that we have fitness considerations etc but in an ideal world you don’t want to be constantly tinkering there.
  8. “Cunt” is a bit harsh but he is an infuriating player for me. Takes too many touches, slows the game down, is very predictable and has very little end product. He’s playing as an 8 in a system where the midfielders have less emphasis to do that which probably impacts on it to be fair but still, he just looks bang average to me in the majority of games.

He was driving 30mph in a 30mph zone, and someone still got hurt (which happens). I doubt Harvey would be telling him he shouldn’t have been punished for hitting him at 50 in a 30 zone *shrugs* Not a great analogy tbf as you’re comparing a clear cut stat based rule with an interpretation. Either way, probably time to move on as no-one is gonna change their mind, I agree with the boy.

PODCAST: Leeds 0 Liverpool 3 - Match Reaction

“Lunges at an opponent” is open to interpretation. I made the point on the pod that he actually dived in to the side of him to go round and hook the ball back, it was the trailing leg which followed through and caught Harvey’s leg, which had moved because these things happen quickly and at pace due to the variables I mentioned. You have no control over whether a trailing leg is going to hit an opponent because a lot of that depends on how the opponent moves, which you can’t cater for at that speed. From time to time things like this will happen, it’s just really unfortunate.

The only way you can truly protect a player is to eliminate the contact in the game, at which point it ceases to be what it is. Every time a player dives into a tackle, there’s a chance someone will get hurt, that’s just how it is. The tackles I don’t like, and think are reds all day, are the ones where there’s a good chance a player will get hurt because you’re being reckless. Obivously I don’t think this falls into that category and everyone else says that it’s only the injury that turned it into that, which just baffles me.

I can, because the law is open to interpretation. The law doesn’t say that the injury changes things. The ref didn’t even give us a free kick and our lads didn’t even appeal for a foul. When there’s a bad tackle, players go running over and start scuffling. Again that for me is very telling. As I said the other day, people disagreeing on it is sound. All jokes aside it’s not a black and white situation.

Eh? I can argue it shouldn’t be but I can’t argue that it was? What are you on about?

How am I? I know what the law is (the one about endangering an opponent anyway) and it’s objective/open to interpretation. Is there a law that a tackle that causes an injury is an automatic red card?

It’s not consistency with the refs i’m talking about.

I look forward to red cards every time then.

He’s not bothered is he? I think he knows it was just unfortunate the way it happened. You’ll see tackles like that hundreds of times this season and nothing will happen (the ref wasn’t even giving a foul for this I don’t think?) As I said yesterday, people can have different opinions on it, that’s fine but for me it’s quite telling that the vast majority of players (current and ex, including Harvey) have said it was wrong for him to get a red card.

A few typos there, wonder if Dave was busy yesterday or something?

PODCAST: Leeds 0 Liverpool 3 - Match Reaction

Hey i’m on the side of professional footballers everywhere on this one, what can I say? Those of us who can play, “get it”, nothing we can do if the punters with their small little brains don’t understand *shrugs*

Golf thread / my new project

Lowry is higher in the world rankings and he’s had a better season by all of the metrics that you could possibly look at (strokes gained, scoring average, money earned etc).

Golf thread / my new project

Rose has been poor this year. I actually thought there was a chance he wouldn’t pick Garcia because of their historic beef but obviously glad that he did. Ideally Wiesberger wouldn’t have qualified and he could have picked Rose for his experience but I honestly don’t think he’s playing well enough either way.

    Thiago Alcantara

He can if you build the play up in the right way. Countless examples of it over the last few years.
  23. It’s almost like social media is full of a load of bullshit rumours isn’t it? Madness. Let’s wait for official word on it.

    Thiago Alcantara

I’m all for us evolving and I agree that Thiago was a break from the norm with our midfield but we still rely on the front 3 and full backs to create the vast majority of chances. I would argue that when teams sit really deep we need to be making sure that it’s Trent and Robbo who help you to break them down; by stretching the game and getting in behind rather than just playing in front of them, like we did in the Chelsea game.
