  1. It was shameful, exactly as you describe it. Wrapping your shirt around your head when you get subbed is fine but you bottled your job Trent, disgusting. I genuinely believe we have to look to a new generation now. We can't get rid of all the long term players in one go but I'd start culling this summer and that would include our most highly paid player. Good report Dave as always, it's genuinely heartbreaking to see Jurgen looking lost and let down.
  2. Massive let down. Hugely disappointing to see an era of such joy end so meekly. Time for a new generation.
  3. No expectations at all of turning it round, just hope we can win the game and restore some confidence and rhythm
  4. Long time since I have been that furious with our own players. Long time. You put it into words very well Dave, I'd just be swearing at them.
  5. I thought we'd get back into it yes as we had created so many chances. The only concern was that Diaz was not putting them away and if that continued then it could be frustrating. And frustrating was the word, to be playing a promoted team and see our chances of the League being jeopardised. I knew we had the ability to turn it round but if they got another goal then I could see us struggling. So, I wouldn't dismiss Stringvest's concerns, we all have different levels of positive/negative
  6. I was fuming at Diaz at half time but he never stops trying, like Nunez. Fair play to him. But Endo is fast becoming my favourite player, he just gets on with it quietly, bossing midfield and he's capable of creativity too, the ball which Diaz had to stretch for being a good example. Great to see the young lads emerging and settling, Bobby Clark getting more involved when he comes on and a nice foul for the team too. I'm with Stringvest in that although I knew we could improve second half I didn't think it would be quite so much.
  7. Alisson has a habit of miscues with his feet against City, as you said in the pod. I thought Matip gave the ball away too many times too but he wasn't alone. Very average game for all the reasons you give, happy with the point for sure and stopping them getting a record is icing on that cake.
  8. Diaz is a concern. I expected great things from this season and, yes he's popped a few in, but his general play has been poor. He is very reluctant to use his left foot, the mirror of Salah on the right. He actually did have a shot on his left yesterday and it wasn't one that will encourage him to try again. Combine that with a bad game from Robbo and the left side struggled to create anything. You're right about Mo, he's generally been very good but he keeps running the ball into defenders when he takes them on, there's no trick. But Klopp was mostly to blame for that first half, sorry to keep agreeing. Just the wrong team selection altogether.
  9. Just noticed on Darwin's second how he shifts his body to let the ball run so it's on his right foot. Great pass from Salah but many would have taken a touch with the left foot, Darwin twisted himself to get himself right. Great pod, captured the excitement
  10. Usually agree with pretty much all you write but I thought Fabinho was poor first half, he gave the ball away several times and was slow to recover. He was better second half. I heard similar comments too but I guess we all see it differently at times. Mind he was better than Hendo who can't do two games so quickly anymore.
  11. The Usher finish, hm. That VAR decision was robbery, no way that should have been reviewed but they can't resist, slow it down and make it look sinister when it was just a football incident. They hate us.
  12. Teams have been overloading the back post at set pieces all season and we fell for it again, do we never learn?
  13. About time fingers were pointed at the medical team. A preseason which ended with a queue for treatment tables, a whole string of muscle injuries and the manager not selecting his best available eleven on their advice! Gomez had me fooled too, but there is a mistake every game and when it is punished he often falls apart as at Napoli, he made a stupid pass down the left straight after their goal for example which had us chasing back desperately. As for attacks, just out the ball in the net then apologise for not passing Virgil. Too many touches, passes - play it quicker and get them on the back foot. Suddenly Wednesday's game has a season busting element, we have no chance in the League, top 4 will be a small miracle.
  14. Top report which can't have been an easy task. I have been working with a load of Italians today and they were shocked by us more than I was. It's just desperate.
  15. Some good points in the comments as well as the usual excellent summary. Patterson was good, but RedSand is right about that incident, nobody kicking off about it, we seem passive about everything. The fact we're only 5 behind City is a bonus given how poor we've been but draws kill you, hence the Bournemouth thing which was a shock when I heard you say it on the pod. Gomez has been like this before, needing a few games after injury to get rhythm back, I get the idea of playing him at RB but let him keep going. Maybe, dons armour, it's time to give van Dijk the odd game off.
  16. Not going to disagree with anything, I'd give them a little credit for getting stuck in and doing to us what we should be doing to them, bullying them, wanting it more. As an old timer I recall Paisley getting the best from players and then moving them on. This team has been too much the same for a season at least. Firmino and Milner, many thanks for all you did but no extra year on the contract, move on. Ancelotti said we are predictable and he's got a point, we need to refresh things regularly. Two years ago we could see the CB problem and we ended up losing a season, this year we have a similar situation with the midfield. Loyalty to players is great but standing still means we lose.
  17. I thought Paul's points and questions about preseason were very apt. The number of non contact injuries (strains, pulls and tears) is not normal surely? We played so many big games last season, a shortened break in summer too. Different clubs have taken different views about how to prepare for this season, at the moment the injury list makes it look like questions need to be asked, as Paul suggested.
  18. Great point that if they can change their game plan we can do the same. When they are pressing so high, just turn them round with a longer pass forward. The back 5 can all play them so just do it. We invited more pressure when we were already under enough. Mané's two halves were chalk and cheese, the team was but the difference in him was stunning.
  19. I hate wanting Bobby not to play, he has been my favourite player for so long. But you're right completely that he's a distant 5th now. That creative play has just disappeared and though his pressing is still good he's often having to because he gave it away. Thiago was a treat, I kept seeing great bits of play, thinking who was that and repeatedly it was him. A joy to watch.
  20. That was a great European away performance, contain the early enthusiasm of the home team then gradually take control. Robbo's best performance of the season for me, superb in marshalling Saka and much better delivery when getting forward. Kelleher seems so calm and assured, we'll do well to hold on to him I fear. I also liked Konaté's passing, his ball to Trent for the second goal was typical, getting it forward down the line. But an excellent team performance all round. Klopp is full on with Martinelli, praises him every time. I do like Saka, going to be a very good player, too good for them obviously.
  21. Think that's a very fair and accurate report, a draw in the match was a good result against a strong team who played very well but the context of the Leicester game just makes it two points lost not one gained. The midfield was awful, Milner's work overshadowed by that horrendous foul to open the situation for their first goal. Fab looked like he was in treacle, Hendo was awful and I say that as a big admirer. I said in the comments after the last report that I thought the team has been held together one season too long. Thiago or Keita would have been fine, both means we are paying two wages for effectively one player given the time they have off.
  22. Yep, I was disgusted by the whole game. I thought we were poor the first half, slow, too deliberate. The second half was inexcusable, agreed about everything you say. Matip apart the players and manager were just not at it. There's a look of having kept the team together a year too much, we need freshening up. Lookman seems to reserve his good games for us, but we made it so easy for him. But he showed what running direct at a defence can do, as did Salah for the penalty. Did we do it again? Just crap.
  23. I ripped Keita last time so fair play he was excellent when he came on this time. Not for the first time I hope he can put in a consistent spell of games. That second half was just brilliant, made up for everyone. As you say Dave their dickhead fans certainly ramped up the desire to win. Terrific entertainment.
  24. Yeah spot on all round though I'd be harsher on Keita whose passing was crap and bottling was unforgivable. I was ranting about Tierney but you're right, it's Kavanagh who should be under the spotlight. That game should have been very different because he's either corrupt or a totally incompetent Raab-like tit.
