What an awful episode that was. Anything to do with Carl needs scrapping. I'm finding it hard thinking of a bigger cunt of a tv character than Carl, everything about him angers me.

What is happening in the comics?

 

I liked the two episodes so far, but it seems like it's just going to be treading old water, in terms of searching for a place, waiting for bad shit to happen, then leaving and repeating that process again. The destruction of the prison seemed like a really good place to end the series, to me.

This show is fucking awesome. It's quite significantly different to the books but still boss.

It can be up and down, for me, but when it is good it is excellent. Very few shows do bleak in the way they manage to. I think I mentioned it before on here but the bit in season three below is probably one of my favourite couple of minutes of television ever. Just perfect. Moments like that can capture the essence of the idea of the walking dead better than even the original comics even can.

Despite loving the show it would definitely be a whole lot better if the series were shorter, say 10-12 episodes. The exposition can be numbing at times. But from what I have read on forums the comic patently cannot be reproduced for TV as fuck it would be even bleaker.

Whilst I absolutely agree with you, I think it probably has more to do with me dedicating my spare time (and plenty of non-spare time) to watching many hundreds of hours of American TV shows.

The wandering around killing Zombies episodes are getting less and less misery ridden and almost routine now. Which 8 probably a good thing because it makes episodes like that one all the more brutal.

 

I wonder is Steinbeck will be picking up royalties for that episode.

Good episode overall, think the shocks came early so as to leave it at the usual cliffhanger. But here was me thinking we'd see Carol, Tyrese, Beth and baby Judith strung up like a doner meat quartet like at my local chippy.
