Amara Nallo was on the bench against City. 17 year-old left footed centre-back we picked up from West Ham in the Summer gone. He and Carter Pinnington, who were both 16 at the start of the season, have formed a good partnership this season while playing for the 21s. Unfortunately, neither Nallo or Pinnington are on our B list. Nallo isn't eligible for the B list having only joined the club last Summer. I assume Pinnington wasn't added purely due to how young he was/is. As for Sparta Prague, they followed up the 5-1 defeat last week with a 4-0 away defeat against third placed Viktoria Plzen on Sunday. My line-up for Thursday would be; Kelleher; Bradley, Quansah, Virgil, Tsimikas; Szoboszlai, McConnell, Clark; Gakpo, Nunez, Salah. Adrian, Frauendorf, Gomez, Robbo, Endo, Mac Allister; Gordon, Koumas, Danns, Musialowski, Elliott, Diaz. Gomez on for Virgil at half-time. Kaide Gordon on for Salah on or around the hour mark, along with Koumas or Musialowski on for Szoboszlai with Gakpo dropping into midfield. Not too many options at right back to give Conor a rest, unless Robbo or Tsimkas shifted over for the back end of the game. Frauendorf made his return to the 21s side against Reading on Sunday coming off the bench, so if he's fit enough, I suppose he could spell Conor for the last 15 minutes or so. If at all possible, I'd want to rest Diaz, Elliott, Endo and Mac Allister for the entire 90.

Koumas and McConnell both played the first 45 minutes in the U21s 2-0 defeat against Villa today. Nyoni played the full 90, as did Kaide Gordon. Certainly would not be surprised if McConnell gets a start in Prague, with Koumas on the bench. As things stand, I think I'd go with the following, with a couple of arranged subs at halftime, all things being equal. Kelleher; Gomez, Quansah, Virg, Tsimikas; Endo, McConnell, Clark; Gakpo, Danns, Elliott. I'd have Konate and Bradley on for Virg and Gomez at the break. Dom and Mo on for Endo and Harvey around 60 minutes, if Mo is deemed fit enough.

Had the game on but muted while at work, so didn't really see the game in its entirety. However, from what I did see, the best side won on the night. Kone-Doherty and Morrison looked very rushed in anything they tried, up until the consolation at least. Very easy to say now, but having Davidson at left back inverting certainly did not work on the night. Not that there were many choices at left back given that Nallo was up with the first team. Franny Gyimah puts a shift in, but he's no Larouci... The lack of a proper number 9 also didn't help. I like young Kareem Ahmed, but he's not a 9. I didn't hear why Figueroa was not involved, but I have to assume injury or illness.

Anderson Arroyo played the full 90 in FC Andorra's 3-2 home win over Cartagena. Rhys Williams was involved in Aberdeen's development squad for their 5-3 defeat against Peterhead in the Challenge Cup as he steps up his match fitness ahead of a return to first team football. Balagizi was not in the matchday squad for Wigan for the midweek 1-1 draw at Carlisle. He did return to the bench today in the 4-0 thumping of Bolton at The Reebok. He came off the bench in the 79th minute. Preston finally confirmed that Calvin Ramsay is out for 6-8 weeks.

Not a good day for the 18s as they were thumped 4-1 away at Leeds. Leeds finished the game with 10 men, but were already 3-0 by that time. Jayden Danns scored our consolation from the pelanty spot late in the game.

However, it took just 7 minutes of the second half to deservedly break the deadlock (Musialowski). The lead was doubled on the hour (Miles), with the 3rd scored in the 83rd minute (Hill) and the fourth scored in stoppage time (Clark).

The 18s kicked off their league campaign with a 4-2 win against Forest at The Academy on Saturday afternoon. Offal Match Report Liverpool U18s made a winning start to their new season with a 4-2 defeat of Nottingham Forest at the Academy on Saturday. First-half finishes from Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas looked to have set the young Reds on course for three points to kick off the U18 Premier League North campaign. Connor Brown won and converted a penalty shortly before half-time for Forest, though, and a solo run and strike from Jimmy Sinclair then brought them back on terms. But Brown was later sent off and the hosts capitalised on the numerical advantage as Danns converted an 86th-minute penalty and Trent Kone-Doherty curled home a beauty to claim victory. Liverpool made an assertive start to the match and their early pressure told with just 11 minutes on the clock. Koumas’ driving run along the left edge of the Forest area carried him past his marker and an accurate cutback allowed Danns to smartly open up his body and place a fine finish inside the right-hand post. The visitors almost responded immediately, with Carter Pinnington required to clear away from goal when Brown rounded Nathan Morana and shot. It was soon a similar story at the other end as Danns pounced on a short backpass. He was tackled in the box but teed up Kieran Morrison, who was blocked by the goalkeeper. Koumas then followed up but his effort was diverted on the line by David Modupe. Danns was inches away from a second when his header from an excellent Josh Davidson floated cross – after a slick one-two down the right – struck the bar and bounced away. But the Reds’ advantage was doubled just before the half-hour mark. Had a look at a Preston forum yesterday and there's a little concern that Calvin has picked up another injury and while be out for a little while longer, although, this information has not been confirmed by anyone and certainly not by Preston themselves. When Ryan Lowe was asked about Calvin, his response was as follows: This reply seems to started the injury rumours that are spreading across the PNE forum. I also seen posters mention that Ramsay was suffering from homesickness, but I'd not read anything into that.

Doesn't look like it - Liam Cooper out for around 8 weeks. The only currently have 2 'senior' centre-backs in Charlie Creswell & Pascal Struijk, though Ethan Ampadu could play there too if needed. Cooper has had a number of injuries in the last couple of seasons, so I'd guess that Leeds want sufficient cover at the back. A loan deal for someone like Rodon makes perfect sense, but would not close the door on a deal for Nat, in my opinion.

Harvey Davies played a big part in Crewe knocking out Sunderland at The Stadium of Light this evening, as the visitors secured a 5-3 pelanty shootout victory following a 1-1 draw at the end of the 90 (+10 minutes stoppage time). According to FlashScore, Harvey made 6 saves during the regulation time, including a big save deep into the 10+ minutes of stoppage time at the end of the game. Harvey then saved the home side's third pelanty of the shootout to help the visitors pull off a shock result against their hosts from the Championship. Elsewhere, Adam Lewis came off the bench in the 57th minute to help Newport turnaround a 1 goal deficit against Charlton.
